Colletti: Dodgers Still Want Manny

Dodgers GM Ned Colletti reaffirmed his club's interest in Manny Ramirez Thursday.  Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com says both sides have been talking since last Friday.

"We want Manny, and Manny knows it," Colletti told reporters. "We'll just keep talking and see if something can't be worked out."  With no other serious potential suitor, the Dodgers have no reason to offer anything better than the two-year, $45MM deal they worked up in October.

Don't feel so sure Colleti you are the only one. Boras is going to take your offer and shop it to the Yankees just like he did with Tex. Boras is a snake oil salesman.

The Mets will get him, just watch. Omar is known for his unexpected big moves, see santana, beltran, putz.

But if the mets sign manny where will v-tek go?

lol

Sign already dammit!

Klit,
Dont get too excited. Girardi is going to clash with Manny. Then watch Manny punishing the team until he get his way.

Oh, Manny, Manny, Manny. . .just imagine if you had sucked it up and put up those second half numbers with the Red Sox instead of adding a stone-filled trunk to your baggage by letting the baseball world know once and for all that the only thing bigger than your bat is your selfish, over-sized notion of what the game owes you. . .

Now, your age coupled with your reputation has left you wondering how it is possible that after hitting nearly .400 down the stretch, nobody thinks you're worth more than 1/4 of Mark Teixeira in terms of salary or years. . .

It's hard to say that someone "only" getting $45 million would be payback, but given what Manny did to the Sox, I'll be delighted if he falls far short of his expectations this winter.

Think Manny is blowing up Boras' cellphone? "Scott, this is Manny. Where is my six year contract?" Haha!!!

Karma's a b*tch and I couldn't be happier to see it biting Manny in back side. I don't care what team he goes to, Yankees included, but I'd LOVE to see him take home less than $20M per year, which is what he would've received from the Sox if he just played baseball. I just want him to be sitting at home going, "wow, I really f'd this one up" but then again, I'd be shocked if Manny could put all of that together and realize what a terrible move that was.

Manny is going to end up a Dodger. Its probably going to take some time still but Manny wants to be a Dodger and the Dodgers are the only legit suitor left who can pay Manny the type of annual salary he wants.

There will be no last minute swooping by the Mets and Yanks. Once the Mets re-sign Perez, they will be done.

Yanks are already done. In fact, they are trying to deal one of their corner OFs, not sign one (BTW, they will not be able to unload Nady unless they are willing to take back very little value. Not in this market where Burrell goes for $8 mill/yr).

All waiting does is let other suitors spend more money or make more moves that move them farther and farther away from Manny.

I mean Dunn and Abreu are going to have a hard time just getting a job, let alone the Yanks being able to trade Nady! The Nats are now saying they are done spending on big ticket free agents.

That's nice Ned, but a little less talk in the media, and a little more action! Git 'er done already!

Excellent point!

Swisher and Nady are hardly better or much cheaper than Pat Burrell...

If teams want a similar player for a similar price without giving up players or draft picks...

Just sign Dunn or Abreu...

I hope he goes to the empire or kc for all I care... just get him the hell out of the nl west!

Manny will clash with Girardi? So keep Manny, dump the legend in his own mind and offer the office to the captain Mattingly. Win-win-win!

The mere fact that Colletti fancies himself a player in the Manny game is hill-larry-us!

This isn't a comment about Manny or the Dodgers but about the previous "Advertise On MLB Trade Rumors" According to quantcast.com, the largest age group (almost half of viewers) of male readers for mlb trade rumors is 35-49 not 18-34, although that group bracket is the second largest group representing a bit over a quarter of readers. As for college educated, you are correct with only 29% percent of readers without college.

Regards.

He'll get 3 years and 70 million from Yanks. Just like Teixeira after he met with Henry. This is gonna take another couple weeks.

Oh crap. Did you feel that earthquake!!

Let manny go to a contender not the only happy to make the playoffs Dodgers!!!

the yanks need this guy!! imagine manny hittin moonballs against the Sh*tSox
give him 55 million 2 years with a 3rd year club option for 25 mill

oh and everyone that thinks that manny would play the feild on the yankees are morons he would be a dh 90% of the year....they would have to deal matsui for next to nothing and that would be fine ...send him to seattle
