Anyone going to the "Bring Manny to the Mets Rally" outside the SNY studios tonight? If so, bring a picket sign, a fake whig, and lots of passion!

0 mets catchers on that list.. go Omar!

He gave up 27 HRs last year and the Rockies wanted him to pitch for them?
Tim Redding, with a career 4.92 ERA and a career FIP of 4.85
What are other teams seeing that I am not? The wins? Really? He still lost more than he won.
I still think Omar gave him too much when any minor league pitcher could post the same stats. Even for a #5 spot in the NL, those numbers are just plain bad. That 2.5 million could've been used on another reliever to boost up the pen.

Let's all remember that defense is far more important than offense with a catcher, and Schneider is solid because he still gets on base at a decent clip in addition to his plus defense.

He was 41st in the NL in ERA (good enough for a four, imo), had a 3.58 ERA in the first half, and a 3.28 ERA against the Phillies. That's probably what you're not seeing, strikethree. Redding is a solid fifth starter and a nice addition to the Mets

Yeah...fantasy baseball rankings, at least these, don't look at defense whatsoever.

Or OBP for that matter.

You forget to mention that's 41 out of 44 of pitchers who qualified.
I can take basically any pitcher and give you a segment of his career and make it look good. Saying he had 3.58 ERA in the first half isn't quite the same as his career (or for any season). I can very well say that his second half ERA was 6.32
Looking back, the Mets needed better second half numbers from their players. For them, the pressure has always been the 2nd half. That's why they collapsed. I don't think bringing in a guy who posted a 6 ERA in the second half helps all that much.
Do you remember last year's bullpen during the second half? Terrible. Now with the recent additions of Putz and K-rod, the bullpen looks better. However, they only have 1 lefty in the pen and could have used that 2.5 million towards obtaining another lefty.

schneider is a joke. His defense isn't even that great, and definetly not worth having him with pudge on the market.
supposedly pudge is back in shape and should be relatively cheap. Why not sign him, and if hes a bust then he backs up schnieder and castro plays some first. If he's not a bust everyone will consider Minaya a genius. I don't see the problem.....

also, as a met fan, I have to agree with strikethree. Redding is a joke, and he'll be in the minors come playoff time anyway. And don't over rate the bullpen, we still have inings six and seven to take care of.
even if 8 and 9 are solid, we still need at least one decent arm that doesnt have a reserved role.
