If Dodger drop out, than I think Pirates will become the favorites, because D-Backs just can't afford what Looper wants.

Pedro makes far more sense than Looper.
Looper has practically no upside, he's a decent 4/5 starter and thats it.
Pedro still has some potential to bounce back and be a solid 3 starter, he could mentor young guys, and he would surely bring a fan or two to the ballpark.
The Pirates don't have much in terms of young pitching, so he wouldn't really be blocking a young guy from getting a shot.
Lincoln and Morris are still in the minors and both have had surgery recently, and Snell, Duke and Gorzelanny all had poor years last season.
I think one option would be to deal Adam LaRoche, but he wouldn't land them much more than a solid prospect or two.

With you on Pedro making more sense... Think I heard Oliver Perez's name come up recently too... Obviously if we can't get Ollie, Pedro should be our 2nd choice, and if not him, then Looper. If nothing else Looper provides even more competition for the rotation, which can only be good. I'm interested to see these players we're supposed to fall in love with... We fell in love with Dougie and they're lettin em walk.

My question is this:
Would Perez actually even consider going back to Pittsburgh, after the simply BRUTAL end to his career there?
