Weathers gets $3.5M? Yikes. As a Braves fan that makes Will Ohman's request for $4M a year seem reasonable.

I think Weathers got this much because of the fact that he has been with the Reds for some time. Otherwise I don't think he would have gotten that on the open market. Plus Weathers did have 33 Saves in 2007 and had decent ERA in 2008 of 3.25 or 3.50 one of those two.

Hands down the Reds over paid for Weathers. It's nice to see him back in Red for '09 but for anything less than 2 mil. Can't really say they wanted veteran help in the pen (Coco Cordero, Art Rhodes, Mike Lincoln) seeing that they already have it. One can't help but get the feeling that Walt paid 3.5M for a catchy nickname. The only thing 'Stormy' about this deal is the absolute disappointment the 40-year old will bring onto the field. Period
