10:24am: Troy Renck of the Denver Post has details on the $7.6MM deal:
Encarnacion will receive $2MM this season and $4.75MM in 2010 with an $850K signing bonus payable between March 29 and November 2009. Also will get $25K for 600 plate appearances.
9:32am: Hal McCoy of the Dayton Daily News believes the deal is worth $5MM.
8:30am: According to John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer, the Reds agreed to a two-year deal with third baseman Edwin Encarnacion. The sides had been $1.15MM apart on his '09 salary. He'll still have one arb year (2011) before free agency.

heres the contract details
Total deal: $7,600,506
2009: $2,000,000
2010: $4,750,000
Signing bonus - $850,000, payable between March 2009 and November 2009.
Plus: $25,000 for 600 plate appearances
Plus: $25,000 for All Star; $50,000 for LCS/MVP;
$100,000 for WS/MVP; $50,000 for Gold Glove; $50,000 for Silver Slugger.
Edwin will donate 1% of base salaries and signing bonus to Reds Community Fund.

I didn't think that 5MM for 2 years sounded reasonable since the number the reds set out at arbitration was 2.55MM and EE posted 3.7MM.
Looks like they cut back on his value this season to free up another million for a last minute signing/trade.

Honestly I don't really understand this. Why a two year deal. Does not make much sense to me. Yeah they got him cheaper this year. I guess if he has a similar season this year he would want around 5 million next year. I have never really been a big fan of him. Way too streaky offensively and defense haha.... is all I can say.
