Dylan Hernandez of the L.A. Times has the latest on free agent lefty Will Ohman, who auditioned for the Dodgers yesterday. Hernandez says the Dodgers offered Ohman about $1MM, half of his reported asking price. They're waiting to hear back. Joe Beimel managed to snag $2MM from Washington on March 18th.
Hernandez says the Dodgers need Ohman as much as he needs them, as they're considering Erick Threets and Brian Mazone for the situational lefty role.

Ohman deserves a Beimel-like deal, he's been a pretty consistently solid lefty the past couple years.
I'd take Ohman over a lot of guys that have spots locked up in ML bullpens.

This guy is worse than Manny Ramirez. Keep hearing about him over and over again.
He got a good offer from the Braves in November and multiple offers after that and now its April and he still don't have a job.

$1 mil? C'mon Frank Wren, make him an offer for 1.5. Braves could really use him.

Ohman = stubborn German
Interesting to see if he bites the Dodgers offer. They might split the difference at 1.5 million or close.

Poor Ohman, bet he wishes he could go back a few months when he had a better deal offered by the Braves who really wanted him back. Now he will have to settle for less money but at least he still got a contender.

I think they split the difference and Ohman is a Dodger for 1.5 million

Beimel is a better pitcher overall.

You are joking, right? Beimel's stats look good because he would allow inherited runners to score non-stop, and therefore not affect his ERA. he greatly benefited from dodger stadium and the weak hitting NL West. Look for him to get killed in the NL East, with Philly, Mets, Braves...

I don't think Ohman or Beimel are all that special to be honest. Ohman, up until this year has always had control issues, so maybe he fixed them, or maybe it is an aberration. He also does had has a platoon split in the past, and I am thinking that he is still more of a loogy even though some think he can be an either side reliever. Beimel also allows to many baserunners, and he doesn't whiff enough to make up for it. He is hittable against either side of the plate. They are both useful if used right, but both just league average middle relief guys that happen to be the best of a given free agent class, imo.
