I'd like to see a reunion with Wily Mo Pena. Maybe returning to where he was most successful would help him get back on track.

If they wanted a RH bench bat.... then why did they cut Gomes?

Its not like teams are beating down the door for him, I dont know why players dont just accept the AAA demotion, play every single day, use it as an opportunity to get better and then hopefully play well enough for a call up.
That or sit on his can at home waiting for someone to call.

I like the Reds new younger look, with a more versatile lineup.
But Reds lost 2-1 to Santana. Both Griffey and Dunn hit homeruns for their respective teams. Irony? Yes.
When Tavares isn't sick that'll keep McCrud outa Centerfield and the lineup. But in a month or so if Dickerson/Harriston cant handle it, Stubbs or Valkia will be up and something will be figured out.

Gambler: Please don't take this wrong, but there is not irony there at all. First, do you really think that Dunn or Griffey would have hit a homer off of Santana? I mean, they could have, of course but the odds would be low.
I agree that the younger look is good. McCrud.. that's about right. Bring up Stubbs.
Go Reds!

I think that Dickerson/Hairston can actually comprise a pretty good left field, but I doubt that left and center will be manned by the same guys in 2010.
I don't think Stubbs is really going to be ready this year. He's only had 190 plate appearances above High A ball, and while he hit well, he also received some pretty good luck. He has a great combination of speed and power, so he's got some major upside, but he's also a free swinger with some holes in his swing, and a guy that MLB pitchers could likely easily take advantage of. He does look an awful lot like the next Mike Cameron though.
And Valaika really isn't ready either, and I'm not sure that he has the bat to profile for left field anyways.
My guess is that the Reds move Edwin Encarnacion to left field and figure out some kind of short term option at third base until one of Todd Frazier, Neftali Soto or Juan Francisco is ready to take over full time there.
They really need to move Edwin, but there's so much slugging upside in his bat that they really need to keep him in the lineup. A move to left field is inevitable for him anyways, his defense at third is awful.

scribbletone, Edwin will be traded or stay at third because Votto will be moved to left to allow yonder alonso to play everyday.
