Odds And Ends: Mariners, Webb, Donnelly

Some links for the afternoon...

The Mariners have an answer to 3B in Jose Lopez. What they need is a real SS who can both field and provide some offense (i.e. Jack Wilson). Slide Cedeno over to 2B until Betancourt is healthy.

Why would the Phillies - who are also in a pennant race - deal Dobbs, leaving themselves without a viable backup 3B? The only way this happens is if Jason Donald is healthy and the Mariners are sending back something meaningful (e.g., as part of a deal for Jarrod Washburn or Erik Bedard, neither of whom is going anywhere while the M's are in the hunt). Miguel Batista and his 1.525 WHIP aren't worth it.
