Ben Sheets Plans To Be Ready For Spring Training

ESPN's Jerry Crasnick spoke to Ben Sheets' agent Casey Close, who said his client is doing well rehabbing his February flexor tendon surgery and plans to be ready for Spring Training.

Close will apparently use Andy Pettitte as a positive comparable for the surgery.  Pettitte had the surgery in August of 2004 and was ready for the start of the 2005 season eight months later.  If we take Pettitte at his word, he used HGH to recover from a 2002 elbow injury but never again.

Several teams have already inquired about Sheets, according to Close.  Three front office officials Crasnick spoke to expect Sheets will have to audition for teams, maybe in January or February.  If he looks good, I imagine a dozen teams will be interested.

Bring Benny back to Milwaukee!

Personally I take Andy at his word, I mean he publicly admitted to using PED's!!

Of course that was already after he had no choice, but why in the world would he continue using a drug that had spectacular results and little chance of landing him in any trouble?

What makes you think he took steroids?

Clearly you're not talking about HGH, which medical studies have shown is harmful to people with normal HGH levels.

Tim, can we avoid the HGH commentary in the future? It adds very little but promotes a lot of trolling and stupid comments.

Jim Hendry looooooooves pitchers coming off major surgery. see Kerry Wood, Mark Prior, Wade Miller, Chad Fox, I'm sure there are more out there, help me out guys...

Yes, let's make sure we don't invite disparaging remarks about teams you're a fan of.

Hey Ruben Amaro Jr., make it happen.

I can't remember the last offseason in which so many high-upside, high-risk starting pitchers were available to all 30 teams on low-risk one-year deals.

Sheets
Harden
Bedard

To a lesser extent:

Duchscherer
Pedro
Jason Schmidt (kidding)

Some team is going to get themselves a bargain, but I don't know which team and which pitcher(s) will be the bargain.

I hope Cashman takes a look at Sheets. He's definitely worth the risk.

Sheets will be on the Dodgers im sure. We always take in the broken, and cross our fingers.
