The Arizona Republic reports that the Diamondbacks have declined Chad Tracy's $7MM option for 2010, choosing instead to pay him a $1MM buyout.
The 29-year-old Tracy missed a month of the season with a strained oblique, hitting just .236/.306/.389 in 288 plate appearances when he did make it onto the field. Capable of playing first and third base, Tracy's OBP and SLG have each declined for three straight seasons.

I could see the Twins going after him if they decide against Joe Crede.

Tracy is a terrible defensive 3B.
He's not played a full season in 3 years and he's better suited to play 1B or DH.

just for good measure...
cue the orioles?

the Orioles want a right-handed corner infielder, preferably one who can play 3B well (which would allow Wigginton, a terrible defender, to play 1B). Tracy doesn't qualify in either category.
thing is, we have our own league average hitting left-handed first baseman in Michael Aubrey, who is cheaper and has more upside. no point in getting Tracy.

oh, I should add, we also have Rhyne Hughes, a 26 year old career minor leaguer who has shown good power (.200 ISO in AAA last season) and is also a left-handed hitting first baseman.

I doubt anyone signs this guy as a starter, he hasn't been relevant for years. A team like the Mets or Braves surely won't sign him to start, but a rebuilding team may pick him up on the cheap just to see what he can do.
I think this will be one of the largest free agent markets in years will all the options declined and guys non-tendered, there will be a lot of guys looking for work in spring training.

I agree Big Pat Tracy is going to be looking for a backup 1B job or DH in the AL and will need spring training to improve his defense and offense. Once Tracy is done with spring training he will be used in pinch hitting situations. Although it will be awhile before he gets signed by some team.

Chad Tracy - welcome to the twilight of your career.
I don't see him getting much more than a bench / 100 at-bats job this year.

The rest of the league will recognize Tracy's only role will be a bench role. And that means the Giants will overpay him to be their starting 3B, as they'll move Sandoval over to first.
I would not be surprised at all.

Chad Tracy could be this year's Russell Branyan.

Chad Tracy will start at third for the Astros in 2010. Key selling point in landing him this FA. Typical Houston move.
