Who would be content with Paul Janish?

i have never understood the "not wanting to trade in our division" rationale - especailly when you are talking about a non-impact player like JJ Hardy.

It could have been Willy Taveras for Hardy!

I could understand it years ago before free agency, but now it just seems kind of foolish to eliminate trading partners if they are willing to deal something that fills a need for your team.

Hmmm, the Reds had no problem trading within the division when the Brewers came calling looking for a reliever and got David Weathers, but when the Reds came calling the Brewers put up the big middle finger. What goes around comes around, just remember that Brewers as the Reds pass you in the standings this coming season.

Wow BigRedOne. The simple reason to trade for Carlos Gomez instead of Willy Tavarez is that Gomez is younger, cheaper, under team control for longer and has more potential. It isn't like the brewers just said screw you to the reds. They got a better deal from the twins. Teams in the division have to make a better offer. We gave up 2 prospects + cash for a 40 yr old pitcher.

The Weathers deal happened because the Reds knew he would only be there for 2 months and the Reds were already out of it. If the Reds feel Hardy could improve the team why would the Brewers help them for an entire 2 (or more) years? Inter-division trades don't happen for a reason.

and by thee way after the offseason i expect the crew to have a big offseason. They will likely go after John Lackey, Jarred Washburn, Mark Mulder, ect. plus they might go and trade for a RF to replace Corey Hart. So we will see who beats who.

What an inane comment, BigRedOne.

Not a chance the Brewers get Lackey

"So we will see who beats who. "
I'll be afraid when the Brewers get FOUR quality starters.

I don't know what u r talkin about. the Reds SUCK something ugly. The Reds finished 4th. They suck. Nobody even cares what the reds do cause they finish last pretty much every year. Also gomez was a major pickup for them and they will be at the top of the N.L next year

Big Red One is stupid. He doesn't know crap about baseball. REDS SUCK!!!!!!
Posted by: stephen | November 06, 2009 at 07:08 PM
What are you stephen? 13?
Posted by: Ethanator99 | November 06, 2009 at 07:40 PM
the brewers are better
Posted by: stephen | November 06, 2009 at 07:45 PM
i will admit the reds have some good players but when they make it to the playoffs i will admit that they are a decent team
Posted by: stephen | November 06, 2009 at 07:47 PM
The Reds will have a better record then the Brewers in 2010.
Posted by: Ethanator99 | November 06, 2009 at 08:45 PM
There's a good chance that the brewers go after lackey. IIRC the GM even mentioned that possibility when explaining this trade. This trade frees up Hardy AND Cameron's salaries to pursue free agent starting pitching. They can now afford to offer Lackey a competitive contract.

Three options the Reds COULD do about shortstop.....
1. Sign Jerry Hairston JR. again.
2. Sign Marco Scutaro.
3. Try to trade with the Angels for Maicer Izturis.
The thought of Janish starting scares me. These are cheap options the Reds could afford and are well-rounded shortstops.

I say go after O-Cab. He could bat 2nd and it would be a perfect fit.

Really stephen, the Reds suck? and your argument for that is that the Reds finished fourth last year? Uh, hey buddy, the brewers finished third, only two games ahead of the Reds. Apparently you are the one who "doesn't know crap about baseball." also, stephen said the reds "finish last pretty much every year." newsflash, the Reds have not finished last in their division since 1983. Meanwhile, the Brewers have been mainstays in last place. 2002, 2003 and 2004 all last place. It has only been the last three years that the Brewers could even be considered decent.
