The Colorado Rockies are attempting to bring back setup man Rafael Betancourt, but will not re-sign righty Josh Fogg, according to Troy Renck of the Denver Post.
Renck doesn't have any specific details on the talks with Betancourt, but writes that the Rockies has approached the reliever about a multi-year deal. Betancourt has a $5.4MM option for 2010. However, we heard previously that the club would like to sign him to a restructured deal that pays him less in 2010, but locks him up past next season.
Fogg, meanwhile, signed a minor-league deal with the Rockies before the season, and earned a mop-up spot in the team's bullpen. He compiled a 3.74 ERA in 24 appearances. According to Renck though, the team told the right-hander that they're "moving in a different direction."

Smart move.
They have cheaper options to fill such a low leverage role.
If they can retain Rafy, they'll have a formidable pen if Street can stay healthy.

What the Rockies are doing this offseason is an A + so far. However they need to save up alot of money i feel to make a run at John Lackey. Fact of the matter is is that i am a rockies and marniers fan aka Luke French but as for the rockies i dont like Aaron Cook as an ace they need a ture ace. Ifeel they should go hard after Lackey. If they dont get him i think that they should package a deal to get Roy Halladay Roy is from Colorado. It would be a perfect fit and that would at least help them win 10 to 12 more game imporving there record to 94-95. However they need a go to guy and Holladay is the perfect choice. If not they should go after Jermaine Dye and trade Brad Hawpe for a numbre 2 or numbre 3 starter someone like a zack duke. They need a ACE. NO disrespect to Aaron cook.

JoseBatistz, they have an ace who happens to go by the name of Ubaldo Jimenez.

He had surgery. He was throwing in September or October. He should be ready come opening day.

Looking forward to it. I always liked him. I personally thought he was one of the best lefties in the game.

What. This is just a bunch of rambling. Nothing really makes sense.

Francis was a pretty good pitcher, but was already living on the slow end. If he doesn't have absolute command when he comes back, he won't last long.

Fogg could be a nice cheap pickup for a team. Maybe the O's.
