Mets and Diamondbacks respectively.

Eyre has said he’s throwing on his own, will come back if the Phils (and only the Phils) call. Plus, the Phils have three lefty kids (Escalona, Bastardo, Zagurski) they like in camp…I don’t think they’ll be in on Mahay or Beimel.

he retired…

Exactly…and in an interview this week he said if the Phils needed a lefty midway through the season, he’d be ready.
There was no animosity in the breakup, they just couldn’t afford to pay him what they did last year, and he didn’t want to go to another team.

Kind of like Paul Byrd with the Sox.

The m’s are a contender that could use a steady lefty in the pen. I know they are trying Nick hill who is a younger guy but I could see them grabbing one of the two veterans…

I thought Beimel was solid for the Nats last year. I’m surprised he hasn’t been signed yet.

The Mets could really use a lefty in the pen unless they plan on taxing the living death out of Feliciano again. 2 mil sounds fairly reasonable. They spent 2 on the likes of Cora but right now the Mets are hoping they have a Barajas moment and get him to concede….
