Marlins Designate Nate Robertson For Assignment

By Tim Dierkes | July 21, 2010 at 11:21am CDT

The Marlins designated lefty Nate Robertson for assignment, reports Joe Capozzi of the Palm Beach Post.  Robertson sports a 5.47 ERA, 5.5 K/9, and 3.6 BB/9 in 100.3 innings this year after last night's bruising at the hands of the Rockies.

Now eminently available, Robertson might be appealing to teams looking for left-handed relief.  MLBTR's Ben Nicholson-Smith pointed out yesterday that Robertson has been decent against southpaws prior to this year and is owed only $163K with the Tigers picking up the rest of the tab.

I think the Cardinals will look into him. They need a left hander, and an innings eater.

He sounds like a Pirate all the way. Neil loves people who have been DFA’d. They never work out (Hayden Penn, Dana Eveland, etc.) but still, why not kick the tires on old Nate Robertson?

I wish I could “like” this whole post just because I’m a Tigers fan full of spite.

Why again do the cards need a lefty? Miller and Reyes have pretty solid, or at least they arent the problem with the bullpen. Might need an innings eater but broken Robertson doesnt really sound like the answer there. Cant use him in the rotation got a pretty solid lefty there already. Look for an expierenced righty for cards bullpen help, not nate Robertson

Watching Ed Wade is like watching a kid get their favorite toy broken. Just picking up the pieces he can, he knows that Phillies dud dream team can win. And now, Mr. Nelson Figueroa, the cherry on top.
