Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere’s Boras!
$1529282
No kidding. He’s probably drooling. Top five free agent dumps his representation a month before season’s end? It’s like Christmas in September for Scott.

What about the Nero group?

So a guy on pace for maybe 25 home runs and 80-85 rbi is going to command a 15MM Salary?

If he does, someone will be disappointed. As much as I like Werth (I really do like him a lot), his offensive numbers look better than the value he actually provides. He has been terrible with RISP this year, which isn’t due to bad luck really because many of those outs are strikeouts.
That being said, he’s a great outfielder with good speed and an above average arm, he’ll take his walks, and when the bases are empty he can rake.

I wouldn’t consider strikingout with RISP bad luck….

It’s worth (no pun) mentioning that Aaron Rowand, and Pat Burrell, both right handed power bats, left the Phillies LH heavy lineup and signed 7 figure deals, only to fall almost completely off the map.
Werth appears to be a better athlete than either of those two, and the injuries earlier in his career mean he doesn’t have the miles on him those two did, but still buyer beware..

Boras managed to get Drew 5/70M 4 years ago and he was 31 then also. Why not maybe 1M more a year now for Werth? it could happen. Drew the better defensively, but Werth better with the bat.

Scott Boras maybe?
The Secret Inspector
Two words: Scott Boras. He is going to sign with the devil. Beverly Hills is a pretty legit agency. So, I don’t think he would leave unless he knew he could get more money. Getting more money is exactly what Mr. Boras will do for him. Boras could get multi-million dollar contracts for Matt Bush, Bryan Bullington, and even Brien Taylor; (haha, Yankee fans.). He’ll provide some punch, but I don’t think he’s worth (pun intended) $15MM+ a season.

I can represent him. I will only take half the commission that Boras will and I am prettysure I can get him 4/$60 mil at least. Here is my negotiation strategy:
“Come on man, he’s a good player! Come on! I’ll be your friend! Pretty please? You’re mean! Also he has had .863, .861, .879, .913 OPS’s the last 4 years.”
I think that would do it.

dont understand how these guys make such big contracts

carl crawford and jayson werth are hardly the same kind of players. in this league i feel homeruns are the most expensive on the market. CC does almost everything well but lets admit hes never goin to hit 20 hr in a season. CC is a great 2 hole guy probablythe best in the league. i’d compare him to johnny damon at his age. and what has damons biggest contract been $13 per. whats happening to the baseball market? i remember when future hall of famer Vlad guerrero signed a 5yr deal at 14 mil per. i dont understand y players like carl crawford and jayson werth and jason bay and ….. are 15 mil per or more. these players are not that valuable. with that said i think carl crawford should go to the angels, i think a 5 yr deal will wrap him up b/c no one will want him for that long. Carl Crawford 5 yr $69 mil anything more is ridiculous.

“You see what he did with Jason Bay?” ———- Boras doesn’t work for Bay.Werth is a breed apart. I expect he’ll choose an agent that gets that.

Because you don’t have to trade your best prospects for them. And they are usually coming off career years.
If you think that a FA will be healthy enough –at an advanced age– to play out a long-term deal at a high level then you should go for it. Is Carl Crawford actually worth 18 mil a season. No. But it’s the price you start at when he’s in demand by five teams.
