D’Backs Sign Josh Wilson

The Diamondbacks signed infielder Josh Wilson to a minor league deal, according to Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic (Twitter links). Wilson, who was released by the Mariners earlier in the week, will report to Triple-A Reno.

Wilson appeared in 11 games for Arizona during the 2009 season before playing for the Padres and Mariners. In 388 plate appearances for Seattle last year, Wilson posted a .227/.278/.294 line as a utility infielder. Though he's primarily a shortstop, Wilson has pitched three times and played every infield position.

Could this mean Drew will start the season on the DL? I think Abreu or Ransom would have worked just fine though.

Or Drew is injured. Abreu would be a better replacement anyway.

KT is seriously trying to sign as many ex Padres as he can.

He showed some flashes of talent in Seattle, and seemed like a good guy. I hope he manages to find some consistency and be a productive player.

He’s a good guy. What the heck does that mean? I’m a good guy. Pay me $400K to play ball. I’ll go where ever you want me to.

I’m glad Josh landed with another team. Its not like he was better than any other bench players, but he played defense pretty well. We didn’t have a place for him though because of his inflexibility position wise.

Im glad Josh is back—if he would stay put long enough to find him…

Not mediocre. He’s awful. Don’t get me wrong, I like him and rooted for him to succeed, but he is just a genuinely bad baseball player.
