I would have preferred Richard Lewis, but I can settle for Fred…

I would prefer Matt Stairs
There I did it. I just dissed Fred Lewis.
Metsfan199
Why not? Fred seems like a decent minor league addition . . .
gmenfan 2
There’s nothing decent about Fred Lewis. Have you seen him try to track down a routine fly ball ? Nothing routine about it.
Metsfan199
Not really; I was only thinking of his past stats . . . interesting though . . . I’ll be sure to check that out, as Buffalo is sometimes on TV here.

r u lonely in Japan

I understand the depth aspect, but I’d just like to point out that Emaus’s minor/major splits are the definition of a AAAA player. You could see why some folks at one point might have been high on him, but his skills just don’t seem to translate to the majors.

42 at bats
metsman
Fine; You go ahead and hold your breath then.
Metsfan199
Why not? Need AAA players after the call-ups – and he can play at AAA, no?
metsman
what part about “I understand the depth aspect” don’t you understand? I don’t get why people respond to other’s comments without reading them. I just don’t think he’s a major leaguer.
Metsfan199
No, I’m not knocking you at all; no need to be defensive, I just think he deserves another chance in light of his AAA performance last year and his few ML at bats; and as a Mets fan, think it will be interesting to watch him in Buffalo. Last I read was the negative ‘don’t hold your breath’, not the depth remark – that’s what I was referring to. But your skepticism is not invalid either.
metsman
The hold your breath comment had to do with the condescending “42 at bat” comment, like I am (as well as every team that’s released him) completely naive in thinking the kid lacks talent…the only person who thinks anything of him is JP Ricciardi and that guy.
Metsfan199
I see, that makes sense. And my comment was not really aimed at you – more at Emaus – hoping he gets another chance and maybe success. Seems like he was thrown into the thick of it a year ago, and cast aside real fast too when he admittedly did not do well. I just like to see players like that ultimately make good.
metsman
I always liked Nick Evans, and if after what he has shown, he is religated to being a AAAA’er, I don’t see were Emaus deserves even that distinction yet. In the bigs Evans hit for a 281 AVG and a 795 OPS with 2 outs/RISP. He also had a 850 OPS against LHP.
In contrast with Emaus; the PCL is like HGH for triple A hitter’s stats, So I don’t see how Emaus has ever shown much at a significant level, I suspect this will be significantly illustrated when he tries to play in the INTL.
Metsfan199
Very good point on Nick – I like him very much too, was sad he ran out of options and they did not keep him. Those are very good stats for a bench guy.
I was not aware of difference between PCL and INTL – I’ll have twatch.THANKS.
vilifyingforce
The PCL is like everybody playing in Coors Field or Arlington.
Metsfan199
Its funny you say that; I was watching Mets game Friday night at Colorado, and realized that’s what he was driving at!
Metsfan199
Agree – 42 at bats and he’s definitely a bum? I hope he makes it back – I’m glad Mets will check him out again – good AAA stats !!

NL Blue Jays
Blue387
This is due to J.P. Riccardi in the Mets front office.
I hope he doesn’t go acquire Vernon Wells.

The Blue Jays catcher moonlights as a Mets front office executive?
venn177
You’re thinking of Arencibia, not Ricciardi.

I should of made the sarcasm a little more obvious I guess…
venn177
Even reading it as sarcasm, the joke falls flat.
That’s actually why I assumed it wasn’t a joke. No offense.
WonderboyRooney10
Lmao! The trendy 2011 NL Rookie Of The Year pick is back.
