As a Red Sox fan, I’d be in favour of having Lovullo as the bench coach and offering Brad Ausmus the newly-opened hitting coach position. Overly optimistic? Yes. I think Lovullo as bench coach is likely though.
Howard
He’s not even a good 1st base coach, lol

There is one real knock I can think of with naming a steroid/PED, etc.. ex user as a manger and REALLY, this isn’t meant as a knock on Giambi, or the Rockies…
**IF** someone gets busted for PED’s/steroids, blah, blah while an ex user is the manager? The media and fans are all going to point the finger on whomever is that manager and think that perhaps that person could have been responsible.. Media more than the fans, but it will happen.
Giambi is a great person and popular in Colorado, but if someone has a problem under him as manager.. You watch.. he will get the blame. Moreso than say McGuire as hitting coach at St. Louis.

Make’s a lot of sense that we hired a career .260 hitter to be the M’s hitting coach. A .260 team batting average would be a solid jump for a team that batted .234 in 2012…

I have to admit I’m a little disappointed to hear Ausmus won’t be searching for another managerial postion. While I do think Farrell was the right choice for the Sox, especially considering the low compensation, I was intrigued that Ausmus could have had potential as a manager. But I guess at this point in his life Ausmus is less concerned about his position and more about location which is admirable. Good luck Brad, hope to see you manage a team some day.

Could it be Jordan that the Jays may be compiling a list of candidates and they are maybe looking to promote from within before going outside of the club. Remember they are not the Red Sox and don’t operate the same.

AA has already said, that he won’t be re interviewing previous candidates. Doesn’t mean he doesn’t want them, just he needs to speed up the process this time. Unlike the Sox, he won’t be using interviews with players as a “pretend” to get what he wants.

And just when we thought the Rockies could not embarass themselves anymore, they hire a Roid-head with zero coaching experience.
If I’m a former manager like Willie Randolph, I’ve gotta be pissed and complaining to Selig that the Rockies would consider a former player with zero coaching experience, ffor their manager over a candidate who nearly got to the World Series in 2006.
