Injury Notes: Davis, Segura, Braun

Orioles slugger Chris Davis is headed to the disabled list with a strained oblique, Eduardo A. Encina of the Baltimore Sun tweets. Davis had an MRI on Saturday. Davis was off to a relatively slow .250/.372/.382 start in 94 plate appearances this season. Third baseman Manny Machado (knee) has begun a rehab assignment at Class A+ Frederick and should soon make his 2014 season debut, which ought to dull Orioles’ fans pain somewhat. Here are a couple more quick notes on injuries.

  • Brewers shortstop Jean Segura required plastic surgery after Ryan Braun inadvertently struck Segura with his bat. But Segura was not concussed and did not have a fracture, Tom Haudricourt of the Journal Sentinel tweets.
  • Braun himself later left the Brewers’ game against the Cubs with an intercostal strain, Andrew Gruman of FOX Sports Wisconsin tweets. Braun is day-to-day, and as ugly a day as it was for him, it sounds like both he and Segura will be fine.

Unfortunate event for Braun and Segura. Hopefully Segura will be back to playing in no time

Hopefully Braun stops being such a jerk…using PEDs, lying to fans about it, hitting teammates in the face with a bat…what’s next?

I wonder when fans will get on Melky Cabrera for lying or maybe Peneida for lying.

        Or

Everth Cabrera or Jhonny Peralta or Nelson Cruz or Peneida etc etc etc for cheating

Oh wait…nope only Braun gets hate.

You’re right… they should all get the “hate”… and be kicked out of baseball for CHEATING. That would end the PED problem.

No it wouldn’t. It would lessen it, but murderers get the death penalty (sometimes) and yet people still kill. As long as performance-enhancing drugs are available, there will always be interest, regardless of the consequences.

While I disagree with what you are saying at least I can respect your opinion. A lot better than just hating on Braun.

Don’t worry Mil8Ball, I hate on them too.

Segura didn’t require plastic surgery! He got stitches from a plastic surgeon at the hospital.

I wondered what the source for that was. It certainly sounds dramatic to say he needed plastic surgery.

I mean, it’s pretty obvious he wouldn’t intentionally harm his teammate. He was stretching on the steps of the dugout.

Why would it stop he was stretching because he was in the hole that’s what everyone does when their up 3rd in the inning
