Gattis will be tendered, Chris Carter will not be.
baseballrat
Why? B/c Gattis hit 40 pts higher with a Lower on base percentage than Carter? 4 more hrs than Carter with 180 more AB’s. Don’t be so sure of yourself big fella.
mrkinsm
Because Carter is due to make nearly 6 million dollars and was a black hole until September. Gattis had 58 XBH’s compared to Carter’s 41.
baseballrat
WOW…. 17 more xtra base hits with 180 more AB’s. Dude face it, Gattis #’s may Look ALOT better to the Naked eye, but they aren’t ANY better.
mrkinsm
Hey Rat, Gattis had 600 PA’s to Carter’s 460. Both of their numbers aren’t great…the point is why pay one twice what the other one will make if they are near equal.
mrkinsm
Not to mention Valbuena can man 1st since Lowrie will be back.
baseballrat
What does Valbuena have to with the Carter/Gattis comparison of #’s? Is it b/c Gattis is the “FAN” favorite, you want him to be the one that stays? What’s matters more? Batting Avg? Or OBP?
mrkinsm
The fact that Valbuena can man 1B next year means the Astros can rid themselves of one of those two…if they are near equals then you choose the cheapest. I’m not an Astros fan by the way, so I could care less which one is a “Fan favorite”.
mrkinsm
And yes they are near equal bats. Gattis 2015 OPS+ 101 (Career 110), Carter’s 2015 OPS+ 100 (Career 110).
LH
To my knowledge neither had long injuries, I’m too lazy to research it but hinch dhing Gattis over carter (if the AB thing is so serious to you) should tell you something about what the organization thinks. Also, watch an Astros game, Gattis is a better hitter.
baseballrat
So you watched “A” Astros game
Lefty_Orioles_Fan
Can Gattis play 1st Base?
Could he learn?
Thegreatandpowerfulsimba
Can the braves send folty/Ruiz back for Gattis?
bobford
Talk about a rare big-time trade that may do absolutely nothing for either team
Weighed
Chris Carter has potential to tear up the power numbers, like the second half of 2014. He goes on hot streaks and kills the ball. Then goes up to the plate with no bat for 3 months. Coach killer.
baseballrat
Since he had 3 less homers, higher OBP Than Gattis with 170 less AB’s. What would you call GATTIS??
