Gotta say, Vazquez is underwhelming even my low expectations for him at the plate. I was expecting about .240/.295/.340, which is still terrible but wouldn’t completely offset his defensive contributions. A trip to the minors is probably the best move here, unless the pitchers feel so comfortable with him that it would be detrimental to the staff. Then again, the pitching isn’t looking great anyway…

That’s just it.. Some do. Price has said he’s the best catcher he’s ever thrown to and his strike stealing ability is outstanding. The arm will get stronger and stronger.
Even if/when Leon’s bat falls back to normal, his glove is still well above average and his arm is barely a notch below that of Vazquez. I’d think long and hard on just trying to find a nice way of moving out the NE native Hannigan somehow.

Agreed, simple because Vasquez has been far and away the best handler of our best pitcher this year… Mr Wright

Thank god it wasn’t the dreaded physical confusion.

Willing to tolerate a weak bat in order to maintain Vazquez and his superior defence. Worthy trade off, particularly on a stacked offensive squad.

Maybe Boston should try 3 catchers like the Cubs.
