Hoyer can say that, but anyone that watches baseball knows that Richard should not have a major league roster spot on THIS team and his days are numbered.
I would have said the same about Wood the other day too, but Monday night bought him some time.

“richard has no spot on this team” = I find myself yelling this at Joe and the TV pretty consistently.

Trade Richard or dump him – The Cubs need to get Miller ONE WAY or ANOTHER! Dump Richard, Dump the Pills berry Dough Boy – Dump Soler – Dump that other catcher – Trade for Miller, bring up Cont and Albert or get a rent a player in Ba from Toronto and lets finish the 2016 as Champions simple as that! #theo #Epstein

I always thought Travis Wood was pretty good. I hated to see the Reds trade him a few years ago. His stats look fine to me. Three HRs in only 19.1 innings, but, other than that, what’s wrong ? 3-0,2.79 . 16/6 K/BB ratio. 12 hits and 6 BBs,so his WHIP is under 1. What’s not to love in those numbers for 24 games ? An effective lefty bullpen guy on a championship caliber team.

Wood is not bad, just not good. Look at his past few years and you will see him go through tough stretches. As Kayrall said, THIS team needs a lights out guy that is consistent. Bullpen is clearly the weakest link, but really only because they are so strong everywhere else.
theo2016
Travis wood as a reliever- 10.28k/9, .191 avg against, 2.73 e.r.a, 3.01 fip.

Wood as a reliever in 2015 and so far this year has been pretty solid. He has a 2.70 ERA and a 1.10 WHIP in 83 innings of relief. That’s pretty damn good IMO.
Frank Richard
What lefty relievers are available besides possibly Andrew Miller? I assume the Cubs would love to have him but so would a lot of other teams. All that assuming the Yankees even want to deal him and the price tag isn’t too high.

Jorge Soler and MiL 1B/DH Dan Vogelbach and a mid-level prospect gets the Cubs Andrew Miller.
Frank Richard
I don’t see the Cubs selling off Soler at this point with Schwarber on the DL and no real option out there other than Kris Bryant I think they keep him.

They been talking to the Yanks for the last 2 weeks where have you been? They still are – 1st offer was Miller for KS – Cubs said NO WAY! Back to the talks as I speak. Miller is already in talks guys. lol –
KB R.
If they are truly still confident in Clayton, a guy who has had trouble all year to just get a single batter out, they’re the only ones in Chicago with said confidence. If that chud didn’t throw with his left arm he would’ve been DFA’d a month ago if not sooner than that yet.

Good idea will be to check out this little website next time, and do not believe any rumors,
