I think if they can find a younger pitcher with similar talent on a contract similar to Dickeys I’d rather have that. But, having Colon and Dickey wouldn’t be a bad back do the Rotation. Good mentors for a lot of blue chip pitching talent.
RunDMC
Reliable innings eaters that we can afford to pay a little bit more in the shorter term to have the flexibility later on. If they were able to nail these 2 down, I could easily see Coppy making a big trade for more of a top of the rotation arm that could include taking on a presumed big contract.

EE’s agent during an interview: “He’s not a flashy guy, he’s more about comfort. Where he and his family will feel comfortable living”….”He’s not just going to sign with the highest bidder”….”He’s got a short list of teams that he’s willing to sign with”….”Toronto still remains at the top of the list.” I’ve been saying all of this since the start of the season. Everything he said during that interview is everything that I’ve said for a year now. A lot of you here called me a liar and a lot of names for saying I knew all this because I “may or may be” someone from EE’s inner circle. That’s fine. I took no ill will considering I’m the one with the inside info. I know where EE is leaning. A lot of you even claimed “EE to Boston.” I disagreed and you all said I was stupid for that. Now it’s released that they aren’t even major players because they’d rather look internally. Hate to tell all of you haters I told you so but…! Hey I don’t look for any acknowledgment or any of that sort. I’m just trying to give some clarity for all of you curious as to where he’ll end up. If you want to listen fine. If you wanna hate go ahead. I’ll just keep saying, “I told you so!”
georgebell 2
Do you have any recent info?
osonvs
Originally down to 3 teams. It’s now up to 4 teams he’s interested in. 2 AL and 2 NL. But Toronto still the top choice. Only reason he hasn’t signed yet is because the money “came a little short of what they wanted.” They’re hoping a bidding war starts but as of right now there isn’t. EE also curious to see what Toronto will do this off season to remain competitive. A big factor on him re-signing. He’s keeping a very close watch.

Is one of the for the Boston Red Sox, please make my day
Michael Macaulay-Birks
Is one of the four**
osonvs
Sorry, no it isn’t. Red Sox were never really in play. He would rather build his own image rather than replace one (Ortiz). But I will say if Boston did blow away other potential deals he would consider.
osonvs
That’s a big if though considering Boston has already said they’re looking in a different direction

Interesting post regarding the information that you have. As a fan of the Red Sox and Astros, I have been watching the DH market closely. While I love EE and think he is the best hitter available in FA, both teams are probably better off taking a pass. Boston already smashes and has options internally; makes sense for them to rotate the DH spot between Holt, Sandoval, Ramirez, Shaw, Swihart, Leon, etc. rather than spend on another hitter. Plus, if Moncada is ready midseason that’s an enormous boost potentially.
As for Houston, EE would be a huge addition and Houston needs to make a move of that magnitude. However, why should Houston give 4 years and $88 million, plus a 1st rd pick, when they could have Morales or Beltran for much shorter deals (think 2 years, $30 million) and keep their draft pick? Additionally, Houston needs a LH hitter to balance all of their RH. IMO, Morales and Beltran, as well as Bautista, are somewhat impacting the market for EE. He will get his deal and I wish him well, just think that my two teams could better use their resources.

“Hey I don’t look for any acknowledgment or any of that sort.”
Isn’t that the opposite of what your rant is all about?
osonvs
No it isn’t. It’s just to show you that My info was very accurate. I know people will see it as otherwise but take from it what you like. I’m just here to share whatever info I gather. Of course that info has limits! For example, I know Bautista’s intentions but I can’t share out of respect that my “informer” (who may or may not be part of Bautista’s camp) asked that I not reveal anything as of yet. So I stay quiet on that front out of respect. To know what I know you have to be able to keep your mouth shut sometimes! Lol 😛
Dookie Howser, MD
For somebody who claims to keep their mouth shut, they sure do open it a lot anonymously on the internet.
osonvs
I think you need to learn to read a bit more carefully. I didn’t say I keep my mouth shut. I said I share what I can and if anyone asks me not to say anything I don’t. And if you know the right sources you’ll also know I’m not the only one who divulges anonymous info. But hey, if you don’t like it don’t read it. Simple as that.
vtadave
Congrats on being able to say “I told you so”.
MB923
Haha. Was thinking the same thing.

Thanks for the update, ignore the doubters.

You’re a loser.
turbo9763
Dude. You’re a douchebag. Period. Whether you know anything or not. You’re a loser.
turbo9763
So you feel the need to come on here and educate readers because you’re in the know with EE. That’s laughable. If you’re actually in the know you must be pretty insecure to come on the and profess your importance. Dear God.
osonvs
Call it what you will. I come here just to provide info, that’s all. No different than the writers of these articles. The only difference is I’m happy with my day job so I do this on my own free time. After all, isn’t the reason we read these articles is to get the latest info!? I just help provide it. And yes. I am “in the know” with EE along with numerous other athletes whom I hang out with on a regular basis. I guess it’s the luxury of being a nice guy. Which is why I don’t feel the need to do anything about you calling me “a loser” or “insecure.” I don’t mind. Your opinion. All I’ll say is at least I’m willing to answer questions instead of trying to attack other commenters here. Says a lot about yourself and the type of person you are. But if you feel the need to continue go right ahead. Whatever makes you sleep better at night.
bravesfan88
Hey, I definitely appreciate the information, one quick question though…
Do you know, what adjustment EE made that made his career take off once he got to Toronto?? Or is their specifically a coach that he attributes his success to??
I’m just curious, but I would absolutely love any insight you can provide..!!
dan-9
No you didn’t. You came here to troll. People who actually know stuff make money off it; they don’t make anonymous comments on mildly read Internet comment sections. Stop making the world worse.
brian6811
If I’m the Red Sox, I load up on pitching! Namely, trade for Chris Sale, sign Ardolis Chapman and Greg Holland. They have enough hitting within the system.
littlejay
If your from his inner circle my question is simple, did he give that chick an STD?
underdog9
Hey man love that you take the time out of your day to feed insight. Keep it coming buddy.
Just ignore the haters and pretend you don’t see their comments.
Just jealous readers as usual.
Also would assume it’s down to blue Jays who I think he’ll sign with just in a matter of time and b more. I can see them trying to steal him after losing trombo. Don’t see NL teams really being a big factor as he enjoys the days off playing DH
bradthebluefish
Osonvs, we love the inside information but how do we know it is actually inside information? How do we know these aren’t wild guesses? That’s our only concern when it comes to trusting the information you are providing.
dan-9
It’s not. He’s making stuff up just for the attention. Lots of people do it. People who actually have inside information don’t throw it out for free on mildly read comment sections.

Dickey will give some teams fits, hard to track the knuckleball, other teams in the league will not be happy with him in their division. The Yanks never liked facing him.
gomerhodge71
Braves need to go after Colon. They got Dickey. Go for the experience!
southi
TBH I’d love it if the Braves went ahead and signed Colon for $12 million for one season. Between Colon and Dickey they’d at least have experienced starters who eat innings if healthy. Not only that, but if the team is faltering (as expected) the Braves can always deal the two players by the trade deadline. For one season it definitely wouldn’t hurt to sign him.
dudefella
How about 12.5 million for one year?
southi
LOL yeah, I still love it for 12.5 too. I’ve actually been saying for a few months that Colon would make perfect sense for the Braves for 2017. He should perform somewhere around league average and for 2017 (when I expect them to stay in the wild card race at least for awhile) it will be good enough. At the very least the Braves should have some entertaining players.
metseventually 2
Please trade Bruce so fast
slider32
You can’t give Bruce away, I watched him slump the month after the Mets got him, in fact the Met have other streaky players like Grandy, Duda, and Cespedes when they had him. If Lugo and Gesselman didn’t come along they would have finished at the bottom of the division. Take their pitching away and they are a second rate team.
aff10
Aren’t most teams second-rate if you take their pitching away?
theruns
Lol.. “If the Mets didn’t have all of these really good players they’d be a last place team!”
Really? Tell us more!
You take any team’s best players away and that’s the case.
“If they didn’t have these really talented young pitchers in their farm system they would have been awful!”
More breaking news: They are good because they are good at identifying and acquiring young pitching talent. You might want to get used to it because they have more on the way.
Their ability to do this is why they’ve made the post season and World Series the past two seasons despite a mid tier payroll and ridiculous number of injuries. If they at any point get to roll out Syndergaard, deGrom, Matz and a healthy Harvey for any period of time they are going to be really, really good.
Even 3 out of the 4 will do because Gsellman is going to be a quality rotation piece, there was nothing flukey about him. Lugo would be a great pen arm, mid 90’s velocity and a stupid good curveball.
bravesfan88
Yes, Syndergaard, DeGrom, Matz, Harvey, and even Wheeler and Gsellman are all solid to excellent pitchers, when healthy..
Thankfully the Mets have their ridiculous depth of talented pitchers though, because for whatever reason they cannot seem to all get healthy at the same time…
Also, Colon has really been their glue while holding down their #3-#4 spot, and he has been nothing short of extremely reliable, solid, although unspectacular, and has truly been a treat for Mets fans to watch!!
As a lifelong Braves fan, I have to dislike the Mets, but man some of their pitchers are fun to watch, especially Syndergaard..Yes, he throws gas, but he truly knows how to actually pitch, set hitters up, and does am excellent job of keeping hitters off-balance and changing their eye level..!!
slider32
Actually Nomar acquired a lot of the talented pitching on the Mets today and he doesn’t work there anymore.. The owner is what really has held them back. Their lack of good position players is evident. I like players, not teams, because their are many players on teams that most fans don’t like. It’s a win- win for me.. On the Mets it’s deGrom, and Thor, on the Yanks it’s Tanaka, and Didi, on the Cubs it’s Bryant , Baez, and Rizzp. I seem to enjoy the game more when I watch it compared to most people. With fantasy today it’s easy to back the players you like.
stephen811
You mean Omar, but you’re right about the pitchers being brought in by him. deGrom, Harvey and Matz are his guys. So is Familia. I liked Omar a lot and hated when we got rid of him. I hated Sandy the first few years but the past 2-3 seasons he’s done a good enough job to keep me happy.
stryk3istrukuout
I like Bautista on the Mets. I don’t know exactly how the outfield plays out, but easier division, probably same price as Cespedes and similar offensive production. Health is a question, obviously.
bravesfan88
I do have a question for the Mets fans out there…
What credit, if any at all, does the Mets young starters give to Bartolo Colon for some of their success??
I kind of want the Braves to get him as a mentor for some of their pitchers, but idk if he is actually a good teammate and mentor or not?!?
I know about Bartolo Colon the pitcher, but what all have you guys heard about Bartolo Colon the mentor and teammate??
julyn82001
Colon is a tremendous pitcher with an incredible work ethic… Plenty to offer to any team…
astros_fan_84
I hope the Astros add Beltran and McCann. It protects the farm, and adds some valuable lefties to the line up.
stephen811
The Mets need to stay far away from Bautista and Fowler. Especially Fowler, he isn’t an upgrade, waste of money. I don’t want McCann either, and none of the free agent catchers available are upgrades. They need to stick with what they have at catcher and look to make a trade later on during the season if they have to. I want Cespedes back but if he leaves they should go after Edwin Encarnacion and sign Rajai Davis either way. I wanted them to sign Davis last year but they signed DeAza instead, which I didn’t like at all. Davis is getting old but he won’t cost a lot, still has a lot of speed and has some pop. And he’s a righty.
They also should sign Greg Holland. Familia is probably going to get a 2 month suspension and I don’t trust him. He’s choked in several high pressure situations now, and I think he’d be better in the 8th inning. I would look into bringing back Joe Smith to, Those are the only guys I want to see them go after, I’d rather see them do nothing than waste money on guys that aren’t upgrades. They can always swing a trade during the season and they’re getting a lot of guys back from injuries so it’s just not necessary.
