Rosenthal: Angels, Astros Make Tejada Offers

Ken Rosenthal's got the scoop on a sweet offer made to the Orioles for Miguel Tejada: starter Ervin Santana and shortstop Erick Aybar.

The Orioles, characteristically an indecisive team, need to pounce on this offer.  Baltimore will not be ready to compete in the AL East for several years, and prime young pitching isn't offered up every day.  Put Santana under Leo Mazzone's tutelage and he could blossom into a true ace.  And Aybar, while overshadowed by the Halos' other infield prospects, looks to be an above average regular for many years.  Not surprising to see Aybar used as a trading chip, but I didn't expect the Angels to offer up Santana.

As far as the Astros, Rosenthal just states that "prime Major League pieces" were offered.  He also mentions the Tigers and Dodgers as players.

ESPN says Texas could offer package including Blalock and either Diamond or Danks for Tejada. Also, what about the news that Yuliesky Gourriel has defected(Will's Mill)? He's an awesome talent. Bell to Brewers is final.

That is more than enough for Tejada, and Baltimore should take it unless they get a better offer. No reason to hold on to him with a deal like that in your grasp.

I think the Angels will be making a huge mistake if this trade goes through. They might be giving up a young Pedro in Santana for Tejada. They would have never been in this spot if they had just re-signed Troy Glaus. But oh ya he's white so the owner Moreno doesn't want him. I also think this is just Moreno wanting more Mexicans/Dominicans on the team. I think he's making the GM Stonemen offer these trades to bring them in. Like that deal for Aramis Rameriez. I think that Moreno needs to realize that there are other races that pay go to the games besides Mexicans. And he also needs to realize that there are other people besides Mexicans/Dominicans that are great baseball players. I'm on to you and your ways Moreno!!!!

Check out Carrol's Will's Mill update... the deal has been turned down by Baltimore while they examine the 'Stros' offer. Still willing to deal him, though.

Giving up Santana would be a mistake.

I can't see the O's taking Ensberg since they have Mora wrapped up for a while with big money right? So, I'm thinking, Everett, Neive, and maybe Luke Scott? I'm not familier as to in what areas the O's are weak in.
