Rangers Covet Brian Anderson?
Phil Rogers, down with the GMs in Florida, uncovered a trade possibility of White Sox center fielder Brian Anderson for Rangers reliever Nick Masset.
Anderson will turn 25 before next season. The former first rounder had a rough first year offensively for the Sox, but he still has the potential to be a slightly above average CF package.
Masset will also be 25 next season. A converted starter, he's pitching well in the Mexican Winter League.

With all this talk about Philly aquireing a pitcher via trade. This will open up a Garcia for Rowand trade.

Garcia for Rowand makes some sense for both teams, although I can't see Garcia wearing a Phillies uniform as anything overly promising for the team. But, if this went down, that would open up the option of the Phillies possibly putting Soriano in Center.

actually no it would work like this....
RF-Soriano
CF-Victorino
LF-Burrell

Actually, unless Philly is adding quite a bit of money to payroll it would probably work like this:
RF Dellucci
CF Victorino
LF Soriano
Burrell traded

Firstly, don't count the eggs before their hatched... Soriano isn't a Philly yet and many teams are going to have something to say about him becoming a Phil. Namely the Angels, Padres, Cubs and Orioles. I don't know about Freddie Garcia either. I think i'd rather see the Phils try to package Rowand and Gordon to the Cubs for Zambrano. It's worth a shot and hell throw in Jon Lieber too. He won 20 for them back in 01. The cubs need a center fielder, a closer and it couldn't hurt throwing in Lieber to round out their rotation.

Does Soriano want to go back to second or after his temper tantrum did he realize he's a better outfielder than 2b man? Cause if he wants second base I fail to see Philly being a serious contender... but if he's willing to stay in the outfield which would be bright of him, then Philly gets to play chicken with mony and the Cubs...
On Burrell. Frankly the only trade I see happening is Burrell + prospects for Manny, no money changing hands. And that only happens if Philly misses out on all the big bats, Boston signs Drew, Gillick panics, nad hell freezes over. Other than that Burrell has put his foot down that he wants to stay in Philly.

Somebody covets Brian Anderson? Why? I guess it's the whopping .257 he hit in the second half, the half the moronic writers in Chicago refer to as his "excellent second half".
It did raise his average to a stellar .225, though.
The more you look at the numbers, the worse this guy gets.

He's 25 (Or maybe not even yet), he's under contract for another 5 years, and his defensive ability is good. He has a good amount of upside, that is why a team would want him.
Burrell going to the Red Sox? I can't see the Sox taking something like that. They can get a lot more for Manny, namely some prospects from a desperate team like the Angels.
If the Phillies are interested in Soriano, one can only assume he is willing to play an OF spot. Moving Utley from 2nd would be a mistake, as by the time his career is done, he could be known as one of the better hitting 2nd basemen out there.
And tell me, please tell me, I did not hear Rowand/Gordon to the Cubs for Zambrano..? Zambrano is the brightest spot in that rotation for the Cubs, and if they're truely trying to win now, getting rid of the number 1 ace, and future Cy Young Winner, would not make sense. They can go into the market and find a Center Fielder, either by trade (Andruw Jones, Chone Figgins) or free agent signing (Juan Pierre). Finding a closer would be a tough one though.

I was kidding around... It was something my brother said last night and it made me laugh. Don't have a heart attack. Jim Hendry is smarter than that. Even though he did just sign DeRosa to that 3 year 13 mil deal. But hey maybe he'll hit another 13 homers this season.

Guardo,
My point about Burrell to the Sox was that a) it's one of the few teams Burrell would go to and b) with my hell freezes over comment I figured it meant "this ain't happening"

I hope you were joking about the zambrano trade. The cubs will not aquire a closer. Howry or Dempster will be the closer next year. My guess is Howry, so thats a non-issue. They are talking soriano for center and if they miss him they will go out and get a mathews jr. or dave roberts and spend money in the rotation. A cubs - phillies trade is about the farthest thing from happening. However, the white sox seem pretty interested.

Yuck, just let Guzman play CF if Tex can't sign somebody.
