Elijah Dukes In Trouble Again

Oh, Elijah.  This time, it's marijuana possession.  At least, that's the charge. 

Elijah Dukes is an interesting player - a world of talent, a complete wild card in terms of behavior.  PECOTA sees him hitting .283/.349/.454 as a 23 year-old this year.  I think the D-Rays should just grin and bear it rather than trade him, as dealing now would be selling low.

First of all- it is generally acceptable for athletes to use marijuana in the offseason.

By reading some of the posts on this board over the winter I think some people here are smoking it as well.

Weed is not coke or steroids. He will get a slap on the wrist in the legal system and be back on the field crushing the ball in Spring Training.

Granted it might devalue his stock a bit so he's probably less likely to be traded this offseason, or at least get the max value in the trade for his talent. I believe that marijuana, somehow, is considered a performance enhancing drug by the MLB. So TB can point out that he has never failed one of those.

Hydroponics refers to a way that weed is grown. It does not infer a certain potency or anything of that nature. Hydro simply means weed was grown differently than it normally is.
