Cardinals Turn To Free Agent Market

The Cardinals want to add at least one starting pitcher.  Once thought to be interested in Carlos Silva and Kyle Lohse - the "premium" options - John Mozeliak is already digging through the bargain bin.  Matthew Leach and Joe Strauss have the latest.

  • Mozeliak has talked to Bartolo Colon's agent and the Cards will take a look at his medical records.  It's been suggested that Colon will not take a one-year deal.
  • Livan Hernandez is under consideration, but Mozeliak says he's "not yet" a fit.
  • Josh Fogg is on the radar too.
  • The Cardinals have marginal interest in Kris Benson, and they'll attend his workout on the 17th.
  • Interesting non-pitcher note from Mozeliak: the Cards have expressed interest in Aaron Rowand.

Cheap bastards.

While the front office focuses on the TLR/Scotty feud, we're left scraping the bottom of the rehab bin again...

Of courrrrrrrseee they have interest in Benson. Yuck. WTH would they want Rowand? Moving Duncan for pitching?

Why would the have interest in a great CF? I say that if we can get him, we go for it and decide how the pieces fit together later. Remember, they said they are shopping Duncan, Edmonds, and Ankiel. I say if we can get rid of Edmonds we jump on it. C'mon Padres, that's you!

What's the deal that the Cardinals released a .290 hitter? So Taguchi...They could of got someone for him in a trade. heheee!
Must be yet another Cardinal on steroids, I am sure they won't release Poophole though.

They released Taguchi because a) the Rule 5 draft and b) his agent requested it.

funny cubsbaseball, just like it would be if D-Lee was on steroids..

oh btw, poophole.. wow that was original!

seriously...at LEAST go with Poo Holes....

Hmm, seems like some kind of anniversary is coming up...oh yeah! Next season will be the 100th anniversary of the last time the Cubs won the World Series! And when was the last time they were even IN the WS?? And for more present times, few teams could spend over $100 million in an offseason and get SWEPT in the 1st round of the playoffs. Bravo Cubbies, bravo

Cardinalred24,

Don't be retarded and make this into a Cubs Cards thing and get immature about it...I know he did...but there are retard fans from every team. And about recent times...the cubs went from last place in the NL to making the playoffs...the Cards went from Winning the WS to 3rd place in the division. I understand the 100 years thing...but don't be an idiot.

Sorry, I've been in a feisty mood lately, and the steroids things got me. I apologize for bringin down the discussion.

yeah, the steroids thing was dumb...but whatever, forget retard comments! No worries...
