Youngman's Latest: Tejada, Eckstein, Inge

Randy Youngman of the OC Register has a few new rumor tidbits for us.  Let's discuss.

  • The Angels won't include Jered Weaver in a Miguel Tejada trade.  Youngman says the O's asked for the moon as a way of gauging Tejada's market value.  Now they'll get serious.
  • Both the Padres and Angels like David Eckstein as one-year possibilities, not that he's open to that.  The Halos actually have a bench role in mind for him, according to Youngman.  The Padres, by the way, spoke to Eckstein's agent today
  • Youngman says the Dodgers have interest in Brandon Inge and Pedro Feliz.  If that's the case, they should really go with internal options.  Jayson Stark said three days ago that the Dodgers would pass on Inge.
  • The Giants are apparently fans of Luis GonzalezIn a December 5th posting Jerry Crasnick said the Rangers, Twins, Rays, White Sox, and Giants had all spoken to Gonzo's agent.

If Sabean signs Gonzalez, then he has officially lied to Giants fans TWO years running.

Getting younger does not mean signing TWO 40 year olds .

Memo to Tim: Randy Youngman is just making stuff up, as is his custom. He's not a beat writer, has few if any connections to any of the local Socal baseball teams, and hasn't broken a story about the Angels or Dodgers EVER that I can recall. Incidentally, the only local writer who breaks anything at all about the Angels is Mike DiGiovanna of L.A. Times.

Of course the Angels wouldn't give up Jered Weaver for Miguel Tejada. Tejada would likely only fetch a Ervin Santana and another guy package.

And if the Dodgers would prefer to give Brandon Inge their starting 3B job over Andy LaRoche, then be my guest, but you're running your team straight into the ground.

One would think that if the Orioles got Santana and maybe even Woods then theyd be laughing their way to the bank.

Does that return sound right ? Or, too much ?

if the orioles got wood, that would be enough for me.

Right on weelburg.

This stuff is laughable. How does this clown have a job? I think that papers/networks now just put these morons out there because the dumber the stuff they say the more people tune in (or at least it looks like that when folks write/call in to say the guy is an idiot). It is the only explanation I can come up with for guys like Bayless, Mariotti, Paige, Plashke, Youngman, et al.

Nomar (even on the downward spiral) is better than either Inge or Feliz by a longshot (no way the Dodgers are interested in either of these bums). He also just figured out Anaheim isn't gonna trade Jared Weaver (25 years old w/ career numbers of 24-9 and 3.33 ERA) for a charred old fossil like Tejada? Pretty sure the O's knew that wasn't happening either Randy.

I've decided I'm just gonna walk into the Register offices tomorrow wearing a hockey helmet and a Ghostbusters tank top and shouting "Mr. Goodbar has peanuts but Hershey's doesn't." Then I'll claim the Reds are gonna trade Hamilton, Dunn, and Griffey to the Dodgers for Pierre, Saenz, Nancy B, and Ned Coletti's mustache. Look for my column early next week.

Tejada a charred old fossil??? You do realize that he is only 31, right???

Morosi is saying that the Tigers are talking with the Pirates regarding Inge.
