Royals To Sign Bartolo Colon?
According to the Dominican site Impacto Deportivo, the Royals are moving toward signing Bartolo Colon. Here's the article in its original form, and here it is via Google Translator. We'll have to wait for confirmation and details before judging anything.
MLB.com's Bill Ladson wrote on December 4th that the Nationals believed Colon would not accept a one-year deal. Aside from the Nats, the Mets, Rangers, Cardinals, Phillies, Diamondbacks, and Mariners have been connected to Colon.

i think he would work out best with the mets, wasn't it said earlier that minaya was very interested in him?

im so tired of comments like 04 forever. your so stupid it blows my mind.. the royals have some amazing young players right now.. an average to above average batting lineup.. and a great defense.. if they get colon they will have a great rotation.. and their bullpen is reallly good. people just dont know crap about baseball including yourself, thats what is depressing 04forver.

This would be a good sign for the Royals. This would accompolish to key needs for the team:
1. Acquire a starting pitcher to upgrade from De La Rosa.
2. Provide a formitable contender to the lunch/dinner spreads in the locker room.

The royals seem to really like what baltimore did for the past ten years. Sign B-level free agents fr more then they are worth and replace productive players with injured retreads. The royals are looking at a much more expensive 75 wi season. Yayyy

Except for the fact that KC has a ton of young talent to go along with these signings...unlike BAL.

A ton? Gordon will get better as will butler. But I think the team leader was buck with 18 homers and a very impressive .222 ba. And emil brown wowed us all witha team leading 62 rbi!!as a part time player!!!! Signing Guillen who has a career ops of about .770 is not going to make these guys hit 30 jacks a piece. And signing a broken down 35 year old colon is nt going to improve this staff. I say let the kids play make some wise trades save your money for a good free agent class and let the team develop.

Gordon, Butler, Hochevar, Greinke, Soria, Bannister, DeJesus, Teahen. More coming.
That's not a huge quantity by any means, but there's potential superstars in that group. More than the O's could ever say.
The team won't be counting on Colon, I don't think. There's enough depth there that if he fails, it's not a huge deal. But the potential reward is very high, his peripherals were good last year and his stuff was almost 100% back to his CY Young days.

if he signs for less than 5 million dollars and he pitches good then good deal for the royals plus the royals have meche fire sticks

This is from the Royals' homepage:
The Royals have been in the market for an established starting pitcher and Moore was asked if the club was close to signing any other free agents.
"No, not really," Moore said. "I know yesterday or somewhere down the line somebody reported that we were close to signing Bartolo Colon and that was news to us."
The Royals are believed to be pursuing Jon Lieber, a veteran right-hander who was 3-6 last year for the Philadelphia Phillies, but didn't pitch after June because of a ruptured tendon in his right foot.
