« Baseball Blogs Weigh In: Wells, Griffey, Olney, Tavarez, Edmonds | Main | Webb, Haren Extensions Possible »
Derrick Turnbow has accepted his assignment to Triple A Nashville, rather than forfeit his remaining salary. Four teams (the Mets not among them) had interest in trading for Turnbow. Brewers GM Doug Melvin was frank with MLB.com's Adam McCalvy about the situation - teams wanted him to eat much of the $2.5MM Turnbow is owed, but weren't offering decent prospects.
Turnbow passed through waivers because no team wanted to take on his salary while keeping him in the bigs.

Tavarez for Turnbow
Personally as a fan I could use the change of scenery, it'd be nice to seeing a different arm lose the game for us.

i disagree with your pessimism gobosox. im not a tavarez fan either, but if one of our very many starters gets injured tavarez can spot start. that's a slim possibility now but last year he was pretty necessary. im for trading him to somewhere who can use him like he needs to be used. maybe trade him back to colorado.
tavarez+prospect=HELTON
kidding of course, but maybe for a prospect or 2. probably a low level guy or a ptbnl. tavarez has been a somewhat decent player. and manny likes him
