Who the hell is Howard Megdal? That whole article is a joke.

I'm shocked no one claimed Threets, simply because San Diego not only claimed Sean Henn from the Yankees, but they actually gave him a job in the majors. The *only* thing remotely interesting about Henn was that he threw left handed.
According to the link here, Threets threw in the mid 90's. Henn only threw in the low 90's.

lol that Milton Bradley story made me laugh

I thought Bedard has been nothing but a nuisance on teams he's played for? Hasn't he been a cancer in the Seattle locker room and he's only been there a few months? I'd prefer following in the Rockies footsteps from 2007 and bring up a young arm like Carrasco towards the end of the year. Sometimes it takes the league a while to get the book on him and before they do he could win us a few big games. We know he has the stuff. Why give up the young prospects that we're already lacking in the farm system? None of the arms mentioned in the article are guys worth mortgaging the future for. Also Freddy Garcia will be tossing simulated games by the end of this month. Would he be worth another look if healthy? Or is his Phillies bridge burned?

Can we get Guru's thoughts on the Cameron article?
The Mariner's are just awful. The sooner someone pulls the plug on that organization the better.

"I have to go to the AT&T cell phone store and get a new vibrator for my phone because the other one blew out this morning,"
WOW- that Bradley story was funny and that was the best part.

Mets acquired Trot Nixon for cash considerations...

Hypothetically, If the Mets fall out of it, they should look to move Wagner. He's still valueable enough to bring in a nice return despite his bad week, and I'm sure he would waive his NTC if he goes to a contender where he could close. I'm thinking maybe the Cardinals for a destination, Tampa Bay if they decide to really make a run for it enough so to take on his remaining salary.
Plus, then they can go and spend on K-Rod in the Offseason ;)
Also, Perez had his 2nd nice outing in a row tonight. Perhaps him having decent rental value isn't out of the question if he continues to pitch well. Although I question weather or not the Mets would be better off waiting and taking the draft picks there. I guess it depends on the offers.

Juan Rincon isn't very smart. No one will want him and he'll have to play ball in another country. I'm sure glad he's gone though!

The Mets aren't going to trade Perez. If he blows up, nobody wants him, if he pitches good, why trade him unless you get blown away? You offer him arb, he declines, you eithe re-sign him this winter or takes the pick(s). If the Mets fall out of it to the point where they would move Wagner, then they might as well just trade away Alou, Beltran, Pedro, Johan, just trade them all and start over. I love how Wagner has 3 bad appearances after absolutely dominating everybody for 2 months and we want to trade him. Perez is another example, the guy was solid for all of last year and for the start of this year, has 3 bad starts, 2 of them awful, and people are ready to just DFA him. He will be okay. Once in a while he will blow up, but he misses bats there is no reason to give up on him during the year unless he goes on for 6 or 7 starts in a row like he did last month.
And signing K-Rod, um, no thanks. Havent Met fans learned yet that spending a million kagillion dollars doesnt work? K-Rod is sick, but the money and years he wants, no thank you. If you ask me, the Mets are lucky Wagner has made it this far for us because it was risky giving him 4 years. Just ride it out, the Mets pitching has been really good and they just dont have a great offense without Alou and Church, then coupled with the fact that David Wright forgot how to hit is going to mean the offense will struggle. Wright will start to hit, Beltrans linedrives will turn into homeruns, everybody will hit and they will make a run because they have the best pitching staff in the East, by far. Even if they cant catch Philly, they will be in the mix all year and are not done yet. I know its frustrating as hell, but the pitching is there, which is most important and the hitting will come.
also, Venom I know I responded to your post, and my tone was nasty.. but it wasn't really directed at you. Its just the attitude around NY, the Mets are almost in panic mode and people are ready to make these knee jerk moves that dont really make any sense. They are old, but if they can fill some positions within the next year or two with some atleast league average guys (hopefully the 3 early picks the Mets had can be around within 2 years), it will free up money to fill in the other spots thru FA. As for this year, they do need a corner OF who can hit, but once they get that and Church comes back, Delgado slided back to the 7 hole, and this lineup looks better all the sudden. Its been a ridiculous struggle and I have gotten caught up in the panic, but the Mets starting staff is capable of carrying them for weeks or even months at a time, if they even a little bit of offense.

Again, it's a hypothetical scenario that is dependant on the Mets fell out of the race, at least to the point to be sellers. I'm not saying that will happen, but if it does that is what I would look to do.
It's not some panic, knee-jerk related moves like you're making it out to be.
The reason you deal Wagner is because he is in his high 30's, still has significant value, and would likely want to play for a contender at this point in his career (...And if that's not us hypothetically, it makes sense to send him to someone that is).
The other players you mentioned don't have that specific set. Beltran and Santana are either in their high 20's or low 30's. They're locked up for the next few years and not on the tail end of their careers yet and they have time to be a part of a re-tooling effort. Alou and Martinez don't have much in value because of how unreliable they are.....Although I'd listen to offers.
Regarding Perez, he's in a contract year with Boras as his agent. Re-signing him is far from a guarantee and if you were to trade him at the deadline (If he's pitching well) you could probably get a better offer then 1 or 2 draft picks and probably players that are closer to the Major Leagues to give the farm system more of a boost.
That's my thought process. It's not so much that i'm panicing, but more preparation in case the Mets do hypothetically fall out of contention.
