Some additional notes from ESPN's Jayson Stark:
- The Mariners still want Jon Niese and another prospect for Raul Ibanez; the Mets are not biting. Similar situation with the Ms asking the Cubs for Felix Pie and another player.
- The Mets aren't in on Jarrod Washburn or Tim Redding.
- The Marlins are making it clear that there is no done deal for Arthur Rhodes. Clark Spencer had written the Fish "could be closer" to a deal for Rhodes than a catcher. Stark says the Mariners are driving a hard bargain for Rhodes, with the Red Sox, Marlins, Phillies, Brewers, Tigers, Mets, Cardinals, and Rays checking in.
Yankees have traded Kyle Farnsworth for Pudge Rodriguez.

If the Mets trade Niese for Ibanez, I will take a sword and chop up Omar Minaya piece by piece. Besides, we need bullpen help more...

are the M's on drugs... what makes them think that a 36 yr old player in his contract year is worth Neise plus or Pie plus? There is no way either of those deals go through, the mets want to give them a mid level prospect or two

Peter Gammons on Espnnews says the Red Sox are in "serious discussions" to trade Manny Ramirez to the Marlins.

The M's logic on Ibanez is this, he will be a type A free agent at the end of the year. If they offer him arbitration and he signs elsewhere, the M's get a first round pick and a sandwich pick for him. They are not going to give him up for anything less than that.

Rhodes would be nice in a Red Sox jersey...

Plain and simple...
SEATTLE NEEDS TO ACT!
If they coast through this trade deadline without dealing Rhodes and Washburn at least.. its a huge failure. Ibanez's return has been a bit blurry so I can see them holding onto him if all they can get is a B prospect in return. But there is NO excuse not to trade Rhodes and Washburn.
Pelekoudas is looking more and more like the west coast version of Andy MacPhail.

I heard Rob Neyer on ESPN Radio 1450 in Atlantic City say the Phillies will be a player for Jason Bay, interesting if they can pull that off.

I doubt it Jason Bay is supposenly going to Boston in that Manny deal. Like
Pirates- Jeremy Hermedia 2 prospects
Red Sox- John Grabow, Jason Bay
Marlins- Manny Ramirez and a prospect
