You guys had an article on here earlier this season saying BOTH of the Danks brothers dropped Boras.
Posted by: Jimmywins1 | October 09, 2008 at 06:11 PM
Jair Jurrjens is a Boras client.

I see some really over-rated guys on this list...
coincidence?? I think not...
Posted by: rangersvoice | October 09, 2008 at 06:24 PM
notice there no marlins on the list. that because all his agents are being overpaid and overrated.
Posted by: marlinsman1120 | October 09, 2008 at 06:29 PM
I believe Carlos Gomez is, and he's the only Twin that I know of.
Posted by: joeiscool12 | October 09, 2008 at 06:35 PM
Marlins prospect Chris Coghlan is a Boras client.
Posted by: Ralphy | October 09, 2008 at 06:37 PM
Alex Cora is a boris client?
What a great list though.

"I see some really over-rated guys on this list...
coincidence?? I think not..."
Well yeah, obviously. Boras gets them a big contract, then they don't live up to it, and hence become overrated.

Yo Tim, this is sick. the only White Sox is leaving this winter. (Joe Crede's hurt ass)

This was a great idea, man. Nice work, as always.
Scott Boris: Getting big-time contracts for small-time players... And, yet, no Julio Lugo? :)
Posted by: soxfan93 | October 09, 2008 at 07:16 PM
I was thinking I will wait for players to sign before adding them here. So I left of Gerrit Cole and Josh Fields for now as well as the '09 guys.
Posted by: Tim Dierkes | October 09, 2008 at 07:18 PM
Damn, Boras makes a lot of cash. How much he get from each contract?
Posted by: yanksown | October 09, 2008 at 07:41 PM
I think 5%.
Posted by: Tim Dierkes | October 09, 2008 at 07:44 PM
I thought it was closer to 10-20%
Posted by: ballerwhiteboy | October 09, 2008 at 07:51 PM
either way, the man is LOADED
Posted by: tmoney352 | October 09, 2008 at 08:00 PM
I think Tim is right for Boras. Some agents get less or the same (in the 3-5% range), but I don't believe any get more.
Posted by: carverslacker | October 09, 2008 at 08:00 PM
Tim,
You should separate this list by class. Indicate the current level of play for the minor leaguers. I'll try to contribute to this.
Posted by: frontdeskmike | October 09, 2008 at 09:23 PM
"Alex Cora is a boris client?"
If I remember correctly he was at one time hyped as the Dodgers shortstop of the future. And for a bench player he is paid very well.
How big is the Boras operation? He's probably got his own staff of junior agents, former big leaguers, amateur scouts, translators etc. Gotta wonder how much profit he actually turns. I mean he obviously does, you don't stay in business to just break even. But is it about the money for him or the power/prestige?
Posted by: start_wearing_purple | October 09, 2008 at 09:42 PM
If you look at the list, some are not in baseball anymore, AKA Jeff Weaver.
Posted by: Knuffy | October 09, 2008 at 09:52 PM
Correct me if I am wrong, because I very well could be, but I thought A-Rod fired Boras and that is how he was able to complete the deal with the Yankees.
Posted by: ewoks | October 09, 2008 at 10:16 PM
If they are still in pro ball they stay on the list.
Far as I know Boras remains A-Rod's baseball agent, Guy Oseary took over for other stuff.
Posted by: Tim Dierkes | October 09, 2008 at 10:19 PM
A-Rod is still a Boras client....what happened was A-Rod reached out to the Yankees on his own, and the Yankees were only willing to negotiate with A-Rod/Boras exclusively, so they wouldn't be used as a pawn in Boras's game to get A-Rod paid, so that was how they worked out the current extension.
A-Rod has also hired a Hollywood Talent Agency to represent him in Off-the-Field matters, but Boras handles his Baseball operations.
Posted by: AdropOFvenom | October 09, 2008 at 10:59 PM
Those writing his last name as Boris really should be careful. Remember that there is another big time MLB agent, who's clients include Barry Bonds, named Jeff Borris.
As for percentages, isn't 10 percent the norm?
Posted by: AA | October 09, 2008 at 11:31 PM
Brett Mooneyham isn't a pro. He was drafted by the Padres but decided to go to Stanford instead.

Bookmarked.
great idea
Posted by: wrveres | October 10, 2008 at 02:02 AM
I seem to recall that Daniel Bard is a Boras client, but I can't seem to find a source to confirm or deny my hunch.

Bruce Chen
Posted by: socalcolonel7 | October 10, 2008 at 02:16 AM
Mike Rozier, a minor leaguer in the Red Sox system, is a Boras client.
Posted by: socalcolonel7 | October 10, 2008 at 02:43 AM
Lohse has been signed to four years.
Posted by: Runner | October 10, 2008 at 07:22 AM
don't think Loshe is a free agent anymore. Nice list though. Amazing how much money this guy must have @ 5% per contract.
Posted by: CY33 | October 10, 2008 at 07:23 AM
Okay. Trivia question (I'm asking because I don't konw). What MLB franchise has the highest percentage of Boras clients on their 40 man roster?
Posted by: MickS | October 10, 2008 at 07:42 AM
The Cardinals may not have the most but they have alot.
Current : Rick Ankiel, Kyle Loshe, Felipe Lopez, Ron villone
Minor Leagues : Tyler Greene, Mark McCormick
Former : J.D. Drew, Anthony Reyes, Julian Tavarez, Jeff Weaver
Drafted but didnt sign : Ian Kennedy, Xavier Nady

jimmywins -
both danks brothers dropped boras as their agent right around draft time. obviously very good news for white sox fans.
Posted by: bigbaddbobbyjenks | October 10, 2008 at 08:34 AM
Cardinals AA first baseman Mark Hamilton and AAA pitcher Blake Hawksworth are also on the list of Boras clients.
Posted by: kotheb | October 10, 2008 at 08:38 AM
Also, Shane Boras was drafted by the Cardinals but didn't sign
Posted by: kotheb | October 10, 2008 at 08:39 AM
I love that not a single Cub is on here, either. Anyone know if any previous Cub had Boras as a client during his tenure with the team?
Posted by: Michael M | October 10, 2008 at 08:58 AM
I believe Lester switched to Boras at about the same time Ellsbury did. I remember hearing it on the radio, but it may have just been a rumor. I can't find a link about it though.
Posted by: NGGriffey | October 10, 2008 at 09:13 AM
Also Scott himself was a Cardinal farmhand.

Mark Pawelek was the Cubs' top draft pick a few years back. Also, Patterson and Maddux.
Posted by: Tim Dierkes | October 10, 2008 at 10:48 AM
Satan is also a Boras client. I hear Boras is trying to renegotiate Satan's contract, he's asking for an extra 1000 years / Billion souls. Satan looks up to Boras as a role model.
Posted by: pageian | October 10, 2008 at 10:59 AM
Yeah with guys like that waste of space, Corey Patterson, I'm glad the cubs don't have any Boras clients. I'd like to see them go after non-Boras guys like Sabathia, Raul Ibanez, or even Furcal but just bringing back Wood and Dempster to go with Harden re-signing AND retaining Jim Hendry as GM for as long as possible would be great.
Posted by: jmancubsfan | October 10, 2008 at 11:05 AM
I thought Boras was a sports agent? If he is why is there a fat worthless slob like Runyelves Hernandez on his list?
Posted by: basicslop | October 10, 2008 at 05:31 PM
Isn't Bobby Seay from the Tigers a Boras client

Removed Runelvys Hernandez after receiving word he is represented by Phil and Alex Isaac.
Posted by: Tim Dierkes | November 28, 2008 at 01:20 PM
To the person who mentioned Donovan Tate, he is not represented by Boras yet, as he is considering going to college fore football. The last I heard is that Boras is giving him advice, but not represtenting him, since it is illegal in the NCAA for a player to have an agent. But that rule apparently applies to every school, besides USC...
