Too bad the Giants can't get hitters to sign with them. Affeldt is a good signing at below market price. He must of saw something in the Giants that I've missed.

The Giants are like the Pirates with money. Great park, but they have no clue on running a baseball club.

The Giants went to the World Series in 2002 and won over 100 games in 2003. Don't ever compare the Giants to the Pirates again.

the giants are a rebuilding club. the bullpen needed help to save those leads the good starting staff gives and this was a perfect signing for that, the giants are bringing up bats and can still make trades. soon enough the giants will be good...dont forget they finally have a good farm system

Uhh.. what?
Affeldt is a lefty reliever with two plus pitches and he's only 29. How is giving him a two year deal worth only $8M a waste? This is one of the few smart veteran signings the Giants have made in years. Worst case scenario, you shove Affeldt into a LOOGY role for two years and it's only $8M. Best case you get a very good set up man or possibly a solid closer. I'm sorry but I simply disagree with you.

The Giants are nothing like the Pirates, sorry. I'm sick of the mindset that losing teams have no right to spend money on free agents. I understand it could be a huge risk if the guy isn't going to live up to his contract, like Barry Zito, but 2 years 8M is not a big deal. I wish the Pirates actually spent money once in a blue moon.

the giants went to the playoffs 4 times since 97, hmm there not that bad. they would of won the 02 series but the angels had too much hitting
