One would think putting Lowe's name next to "Zito contract" would only hurt Lowe's chances of even playing next year.

A Zito like contract for Lowe? LOL

Zito wasnt 35 when he signed that huge deal and isnt even 35 right now. Boras has gone mad with power!

I hope that all of these Boras clients get hosed like Lohse did and only get 1 year on a crappy team.

Yay, a NEW thread about Teixeira. Imagine that. I think "Free Agent Teixeira" is looking like the "Bedard trade" or "Roberts non-trade" of '07.

Boras is denying he said Lowe was looking for a Zito like contract...even he realizes that's ridiculous.
Reading some of the previous comments I'm not sure everyone got this point.

it says he emphatically disputed that report.
too convoluted? 'he no want zito contract.'

I can't imagine a team that would host Pedroia, Ellsbury, Tex, Ortiz, Youkilis, Bay, Drew....
that is one power team! the new "Evil Empire" has arisen!

The Red Sox getting Tex would be just amazing. It would be great if the Sox get him but even if they don't, the Sox are in great shape. The Yanks and the Angels need him more ;)

I hope Teixeira just signs with the Nationals.
I think it would be great to see him go help a hometown franchise get off its feet and start to become more competitive. I realize this won't happen but, it would be nice.
Plus, then at least he is out of the AL.

Tex will definetly be a member of the Red Sox. It just makes too much sense. Rumor has it around Boston that Theo felt so comfortable letting Manny go because Tex signing was his plan all along. Mike Lowell won't be fully recovered until possibly June which means he will have just enough time to come back play well for a month and be perfect trade bait to fill a midseason hole. So on opening day if the Sox don't sign Tex and move Youk to third who else would play third? Rumors of a Lugo trade are pretty strong so that rules out Lowrie to third. Meaning Tex would not only fill that hole but also fill the cleanup spot hole left by Manny and allow the Sox to put Youk in the five spot. You also have to remember Ortiz is getting older so Theo is viewing Tex as the centerpiece to a powerful lineup for years to come. The Sox moved Coco for Ramirez which filled a hole in the bullpen but I think the main purpose of moving Coco was to free up a little more salary to give to Tex. If they wouldn't include Coco in the Johan Santana trade offer why would they trade him for a reliever? Unless it was a salary dump move for something better. If they do sign Tex. It would essentially be like trading Coco, Craig Hansen, Brandon Moss and Manny, for Tex, Bay, and Ramirez which sounds like a pretty good deal to me. I like the Coco trade for both sides involved but I think it's just a precursor of something much bigger to com. ie: Texiera.
