Good for Vance. I remember when he was a backup for Piazza with the Mets. He was a good game caller, with a good arm and he was definitely not scared to block the plate and get railroaded to stop a guy from scoring. Loves playing the game. Glad to see him get picked up.

Nice pickup by the Royals. When healthy he should be a great backup

JR House, Brayan Pena, Matt Tupman, Miguel Olivo, John Buck and now another catcher?
Should have done that before they re-signed Olivo.

Wow, Miguel Olivo, John Buck, Vance Wilson, Brayan Pena, JR House....where are all these guys going to play? Surely this spells a John Buck trade....

I agree Michael. I think this signals John Buck hittin' the road. Oliver starts at catcher with Wilson backing up.

ship olivo to the sox for some kids

Wilson hasn't played in 2 years. He's likely taking the minor league deal so he can finish his career out closer to home. This will have little to no effect on the major league roster.

Wilson is now living right near the AA team in Arkansas. He is not even being invited to ML camp as he still needs to be game ready. My guess is he is going to catch at AA and work with the kids to make the transition into coaching...He has no chance IMO to play with the big club.

I don't know about that Slayer, Dayton Moore has not been too enamored with Buck during his tenure as GM. I wouldn't be surprised if this Vance Wilson signing is Moore's way of pressuring Buck to go into spring training playing for his job.

Sorry, stole your thunder tanana.

Yeah, i think minor-league fodder as well. I'd still like to see Buck traded - maybe Buck and Guillen to the Mets for Castillo and pitching/prospect? so that Pena can back up Olivo.

Is Vance Wilson still alive?

He was probably the best overall backup a fews years ago. I'd like to see him back in the majors and playing well.

I want Buck traded...I would much rather see Brayan Pena as the back up
