Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that Blue Jays execs will decide what course of action to take this month once they see how the team performs on its ten-game road trip against divisional rivals.
Jamey Newberg ranks this week's top 20 Rangers prospects for MLB.com. Texas just keeps churning out quality players; this week it's Julio Borbon.
Cubs reliever Neal Cotts underwent Tommy John surgery, according to the Sports Network, via the Miami Herald.
Geoff Baker of the Seattle Times says the Mariners and Angels have a serious advantage over the Rangers when it comes to making deadline deals now that the Rangers are borrowing money from MLB.
Steve Kornacki of MLive provides five reasons why the Tigers may not make the playoffs and five reasons why they're in first.
As Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel notes, Seth McClung's preformance has made the Brewers' need for a starter more glaring.

So the Rangers are grooming top prospect Feliz to be a closer huh? Interesting. That could be a good way to fix a glaring problem and not spend money.

Tigers ways to not make playoffs are kind of strange. Just flat out bench Ordonez and put a gag on Boras, but closer problems may be more iffy, with both Rodney and Zumaya having control issues well documented in the past. They could very well be a sleeper team to be looking for a proven closer come the deadline for stability in the 'pen.

i'm getting the drift that everybody in Cleveland thinks that the only way to trade Cliff Lee would be if they got a lot in return. Anybody else sense that from the endless articles about the same thing?

johns, i am no Rodney fan but he has been effective as a closer. With that said i agree, Rodney's control issues will catch up to him sooner or later. We need a proven Cl.

Yet we will still probably see 100 Dodger fans like yourself posting "McDonald and Elbert and nothing more. That is the best they will ever do and they would be stupid to turn it down" in here.

GIANTS should trade Alderson, Valdez, and Noonan for V-Mart. Maybe even more, but he would really give us that extra edge and impact bat to get us to the playoffs.
