The Yankees have acquired speedy outfielder Freddy Guzman from the Orioles, according to The Star Ledger's Marc Carig. Baltimore gets a player to be named later in the deal
Guzman will head to Triple-A Scranton initially, and was hitting .219-.261-.289 in stops with the top minor league affiliate of three different organizations this year. The Orioles signed him to a minor league deal earlier this month.

Yeah I guess this is another depth move ala Gathright. I guess they can move IPK to the 60 day DL. I doubt he makes the playoff roster (assuming we're in the playoffs) unless Gardner is still injured.

Isn't this the same Guzman the Sox released off of the AAA Pawsox roster in late July? Am pretty sure it is.. Speed, but no real base stealing ability (like Bonafacio on the Marlins).
Can see him being used as a PR still for slower base path cloggers, like the recently picked up Gathright by Boston.

This is in case Brett Gardner doesn't fully recover.

They should trade Hairston after costing Pettite the perfect game and the no hitter

I was in tears after that! I swear Pettitte deserves nothing less than a perfect game, really for what he has done for this team and this organization. He represents what a Yankee and baseball player should be!!

"what a yankee and baseball player should be." I'm a Pettitte fan, but let's call a spade a spade. The dude cheated at some point in his career. It is what it is. I don't care, and most sane people don't. But let's not get all ballwashy because he's had a stretch of really good games. He's a nice guy, but he did what he did. I really don't see how that's what a baseball player should be.

"Ballwashy", really, ballwashy, maybe you do that to mine! Go Yankees!

its another nice pickup for the yanks. i agree i was in tears when hairston missed that groundball. but he did have a very nice play earlier in the game to keep the perfect game still in affect

Hahaha I was at the Yankees-Orioles game tonight (I'm an O's fan) and I was happy when Hairston misplayed the ball and when Markakis got the hit, but I would've loved to have seen a perfect game too. Pettite pitched very well, but the O's just weren't picking pitches very well either.
