Dodgers Designate Ronnie Belliard For Assignment

The Dodgers have designated infielder Ronnie Belliard for assignment according to MLB.com's Ken Gurnick (via Twitter). The move frees up a 40-man roster spot for outfielder Trent Oeltjen.

Belliard, 35, hit just .216/.295/.327 with two homers in 185 plate appearances this season. He signed a one year contract worth $825K this winter. Oeltjen, 27, hit .347/.416/.563 in 226 plate appearances with Los Angeles' Triple-A affiliate this year.

I have to root for the Dodgers today and tomorrow…

I think I just threw up in my mouth a little!

Ronnie deserves a shot as an AL bench player.

  3. Finally! I didn’t like him as soon as he said his favorite baseball player was Manny Ramirez.

Why? Manny Ramirez is a good baseball player and an incredible hitter.

Now if we were talking about what kind of teammate or moody prima donna he is…

Maybe he was attracted to Manny’s moobs.

  4. Why is this transaction even necessary? We’re in September and essentially out of the playoff hunt. At this point it does not matter whether Ronnie Belliard or Trent Oeltjen occupy this roster spot in regards to this season. But I guess Dodgers management apparently is not interested in signing Belliard for next season and just want to take a look Oeltjen in regards to a possible fourth or fifth OF spot for next season.

Hudson wears out his welcome whereever he goes. If there is something he does not like like turning down a three year twenty seven million dollar contract then the next year he claimed it had to do with race that nobody would pay him. Too late Orlando you were in love with your own billing, 9 million a year was beneth you. Now you play for two to three million a year. Whitey got one over on you.

They should’ve kept O-dog. That was a Torre-crony kind of situation.

I did not know that. The media image of Hudson is that he’s a magic man, a bundle of energy and talent, plucky, scrappy, all that. So you think Torre benched him last year because he got sick of him?

  8. I agree. Like him as a player, but he talks way too often and way too fast. Seemed kinda egocentric too
