Indians Close To Trading Trevor Crowe?

By Mark Polishuk | March 29, 2012 at 10:07pm CDT

10:07pm: The Crowe trade "now appears to be a no-go," according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports (via Twitter).  Heyman doesn't know whether this could impact the rumored Abreu trade.

9:03pm: The Indians are close to dealing outfielder Trevor Crowe, report Jon Paul Morosi and Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports (Twitter link).  Crowe was pulled from a minor league game earlier today, though the trade has not yet been finalized, Morosi adds.  It is unknown if Crowe could be going to the Angels as part of another impending Tribe deal involving Bobby Abreu.

If they get Trevor Crowe for Abreu, this Trade is silly!

if he’s going to the angels, then it’s a huge overpayment, even if he is pretty bad…

if someone else is taking him, then meh.

If this is indeed the player for Abreu it is a steal even if the halos have to eat the salary. At least they are getting back a guy with a pulse and shedding a one time pro who turned into baseball’s version of Brett Favre who would or could not admit he was washed up.

Abreu reminds me of Posada last year.

Abreu’s always been a “me first” guy.

Mets have been looking for a left handed hitting outfielder ( I know Crowe is switch) for the whole off season. Plus, Torres might be out with an injury for opening day. Center field is a major need for the Mets right now. Could it be them?

I wish the mets would get him.  He’s a good guy – saw him play in the minors.

If the Indians are sending Trevor Crowe to the Angels for the desiccated corpse of Bobby Abreu, then they really are the worst organization in baseball.

Do you think Abreu sucks that bad or do you honestly think Trevor Crowe is anything more than a career AAA player?

        Both.

PLEASE LET THIS HAPPEN. Abreu may be a shell of what he used to be but he is an upgrade for this team and Crowe will never be a starter in the MLB.

This isn’t part of the Abreu trade. Why would they trade an outfielder for an outfielder?

Because Bobby Abreu could contribute more to a major league club than Crowe, and Crowe may have upside that the Angels see worthwhile? They want to dump Abreu?
