• The Red Sox acquired closer Craig Kimbrel from the Padres for prospects Manuel Margot, Javier Guerra, Carlos Asuaje and Logan Allen.
• The Angels acquired shortstop Andrelton Simmons and catcher Jose Briceno from the Braves for shortstop Erick Aybar and pitchers Sean Newcomb and Chris Ellis.
• The Twins submitted the winning bid for Korean first baseman Byung-ho Park.
• 16 players declined their qualifying offers, but Matt Wieters (Orioles), Brett Anderson (Dodgers) and Colby Rasmus (Astros) all accepted theirs. Another player to receive a qualifying offer, pitcher Marco Estrada, re-signed with the Blue Jays for two years.
