Geoff,
Are we to assume that the Mariners are actively shopping Jose Lopez, since he is one of only a handful of players that isn't slotted to be in an M's commercial?! If so, where do you see him going and has Bavasi found any suitors thus far?!
Do you see the Mariners keeping Balentien down until the all-star break, to prevent him from reaching Super 2 status?! Would his inclusion on the roster be contingent upon them successfully trading Vidro, Wilkerson, or Sexson to create room for him in right field?!
How does the Mariners F.O. feel about Jimerson?! Charlton showed some impressive power, speed, and defense while in the minors last year and has always done well when given the chance on the major league level... Could he be auditioning for a full-time job in right field or at the very least a job as the 4th OF'er?! I'm really hoping that he breaks camp with the parent club and that they just eat some of these bad contracts and play the talent and not the paycheck!
How are the Erik Bedard contract negotiations going?! He recently signed a one-year $7MM deal, but everyone is speculating that it was done merely to avoid arbitration. It's thought that Bedard's agent and the Mariners are still feverishly trying to complete a long-term deal before Opening Day if possible. could you validate this claim or is this more idle gossip?!
Kurt
