I think Aaron Rowand on the Cubs would have many Sox fans conflicted. I wonder if their (I don't have too much) love for him would be diminished if he donned a Cubs jersey.

I thought it said that Hendry told Rowand's agent the cubs would have interest if they lost out on Fukudome. That doesn't really mean he was their plan B for sure, and I was told he was already putting a package together to trade for Swisher in the event of not getting Fukudome. I think Rowand was an option, but who knows where on the list he was.

WhiteSoxFan, doubt there'd be conflict. When Nomar was traded away I started getting sick of all the fans on the radio saying how they'll never support the Red Sox again and now they're Cubs fans because of Nomar. I think we all remember what happened after that. In the end people support their team, not the individual players as much.

Plan B? Doesn't one of those great players play center and one right?
Why not both? I sure hope Pie makes me forget about this.

That A-Rod article was amazing. Here is what Heyman suggests:
1. There were teams lined up to outbid the Yankees for A-Rod
2. That teams were willing to over $300m
3. That A-Rod took less money because he loves the Yankees
Then we get the sob story about how rough life is for A-Rod. You know, people thinking he is just about the money. Wonder where they got that idea from? PayRod is a hired gun. Nothing wrong with that, just don't pretend to be a guy who is all about the game.
BTW - I was excited as an Angels fan at the possibility of landing the guy. Personally, I thought anything over 8/200 was an unacceptable risk. I'm still shocked that the Yankees think they landed a bargain by "only" paying 10/300.

I agree, purple, people will always support their team foremost. But as you saw here on this site, White Sox fans were/are still clamoring for Rowand's return to the South Side even after him being away for two years. On sports talk radio, people still call in to say this team needs Rowand back.
I don't think the love for him will ever die in many (delusional? maybe) Sox fans. The only thing I could see souring that love affair would be Rowand donning the colors of the enemy, the Cubs. I just don't understand my fellow fans' infatuation with him. A good player and a great guy (from what I've heard), but I think the WS win, his attitude & work ethic, and legend overshadow his actual baseball relevance.

I thought this joke of an Arod story was over. I guess it will never completely die. I guess inside look now means overview of events more or less already known from essentially one point of view. Slap on the PR fallout quotes, give it a title that suggests the piece is more interesting/informative than it really is and welcome to the cess pool of mainstream media.

The contract better be 10/300 or the Yanks will really have been ripped off. His incentives will all be achieved unless he has an amazing breakdown or gets injured. In either case, it will be really bad news for the Yanks if it only turns out to be 10/275.

…Hehehe, yeah wasn’t that great? The thing I find most interesting is the fact that it seems to be ARod telling us that anyone was interested; and ARods info of course would have gone through Boras. So really, atleast a good chunk of this is ARods interpretation of the spin given to him by Boars; laid out in a way in which to imply that teams were falling over themselves to offer the biggest contract in the history of the game… Humm…

If teams were lining up for him that would certainly be the best kept secret in baseball. Everything I heard from the Angels was that they liked the guy. At no point was anything mentioned that would indicate that they would go up to $150m let alone $300m.
