Price for Holliday? Haha, no thank you! You can keep him and that big ass contract he will be waiting for.

If they are considering trading a high-end prospect for a Brian Fuentes....why not just call up Price and put him in the bullpen?

I probably should have been more clear - there is NO indication the Rays are considering trading Davis or Hellickson for Fuentes. We have only heard that the Rockies like those two. That's nice, doesn't mean they're getting either though.

Thanks for clarifying Tim! Doing a great job. Keep us updated on them Rays! :)

Man, trading for Holliday is such a huge risk ~ he hits like Pujols in Col and Ibanez everywhere else. If a team pays for Pujols and gets Ibanez, I think we will hear complaints about it for the next 10 years...
I’m just happy that the Indians are far enough out of it to be sellers right now, I feared they were most likely to make that mistake…

The Rockies probably won't get any of those guys. Tampa's RP is good enough and Price will come up at the end of the year to be that extra arm for the stretch run.

As a Pirate fan I'm hoping they make a trade for Bay or Nady. I think Nady would be a better fit in right for the Rays. Is Nady/Marte more desireable considering the price shouldn't be as steep as Holliday/Fuentes?

The Rays do not need Fuentes.
They can do what the Yanks did with Joba however Price is a better pitcher being an overpowering left hander. Therefore, he should easily handle that role and the Rays have what they need.

yanks is right, unless the rays can get fuentes for a lesser prospect(very unlikely), price has the stuff to be the kind of impact in the stretch run that k-rod was in 2003 for the angels when they won the WS.

melmann's Nady/Marte idea ain't half bad. I'll give ya another... Aubrey Huff (or Luke Scott) and George Sherrill. Granted, both Huff and Scott are lefties, so it's not a perfect fit, but either would be an upgrade at either the DH slot or, assuming the Rays were going to move Crawford to right, could slot into left and provide improved production. Both Huff and Scott are on pace for 30 HRs. If you'll allow me to go all out crazy, how 'bout: Brian Roberts, Aubrey Huff, and George Sherrill for Akinori Iwamura, Jeremy Hellickson, and Reid Brignac. Rays upgrade at second and, just as importantly, get a real leadoff catalyst, as well as an All Star to help the 'pen and a productive (and versatile) power bat; O's get some more prospects- including the SS for the future they need.
I said it was crazy. What'dya want, I'm bored.

BTW- if you wonder about the difficulty of the jump from High A to Double A, look at Hellickson's numbers through his first 2 starts at Montgomery vs. his incredible first half at Vero Beach. Wow.

i think the yankees should get fuentes and holliday
they should wait till damons off the DL then trade damon, latrow hawkins. and 1 or 2 minor leagures i think that would be a great trade

@ Yankeefanbriccio13
Are you serious? You're only looking at things from a Yankees fan's POV. As a Rockies fan, let me let you in on a few things:
First, Damon does not equal Holliday, as you seem to think. Damon is in his 15th year, and has never slugged over .500. Holliday is in 5th year, meaning he's on the upside of his prime, and he's slugged above .500 every year since his rookie season. Higher averages, runner up for last year's MVP award, 2-time Silver Slugger (compared to Damon's 0)...you get the idea. The Rockies would be absolute fools to accept the aging and declining Damon and send away the young and hot Holliday.
Second, LaTroy Hawkins does NOT equal Brian Fuentes. Why do you think the Rockies got rid of Hawkins and kept Fuentes in the first place? And now you want the team to get back the reliever they relieved themselves of and send away their All-Star closer? No thanks.
And just because you throw in "1 or 2 minor leagures [sic]" doesn't make it a fair deal - the Rockies are basically trading away most of their offensive talent and their closer and getting nothing in return in this deal.
Try to consider both sides of what you say. It's a "great trade"...for the Yankees. Absolutely atrocious trade for the Rockies.
We ain't the rest of baseball's farm team, you know.
