« Molony's Latest: Red Sox, Kelly Johnson | Main | Kenny Rogers, Others Placed On Waivers »
3:30pm: The Rangers will receive minor league reliever Mark Hamburger. La Velle E. Neal III expects the Twins to pick up the rest of Guardado's salary.
2:13pm: According to Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News, the Twins have acquired Eddie Guardado from the Rangers. Joe Christensen wrote on Friday that the Twins would make a claim but didn't expect a deal.
Guardado has been useful for the Rangers, posting a 3.65 ERA in 49.1 innings. The ERA is a bit deceiving, but it's still a helpful addition for the Twins. Guardado is a familiar face, having spent a decade in the organization. He's still owed roughly $620K this year.

Frank Francisco has the edge over Benoit to get the closer's job.

there wont be a closer.... i think they are thinking that they wont need a closer for the rest of the season cause they wont win any close games...

sweet, we needed some help in the bullpen, and we didn't have to give up much. Hopefully he'll help.

The Twins sent Mark Hamburger, a 21-year-old closer who converted 13 of 14 save opportunities for the Elizabethton (Tenn.) Twins in the Appalachian League this season, to Texas in exchange for Guardado.
Hamburger was considered a low grade prospect who had an outside chance of reaching the big leagues as a set up guy.

Good move for both sides.

Twins Acquire Guardado for Hamburger
The jokes... They write themselves.

One would have thought that the Twins needed to keep Hamburger around in order to motivate Eddie to do things.

"Frank Francisco has the edge over Benoit to get the closer's job."
good one, benoit doesnt have a chance to get the job this season, his velocity is around 89-92 instead of 94-96,I think we would see Jamey Wright or Josh Rupe close before "Walk-him" Benoit

Cubsaddict, Hamburger was a rookie league closer, you can't think he was pushing any member of the Twins or Rangers bullpen.
Besides, do you honestly think they'd have brought Hamburger up within this year or 2010? Crazy talk.
What a blasphamous comment.
