Everyday Eddie Guardado, a Twins mainstay for a decade, has apparently been placed on waivers by the Rangers. Joe Christensen says the Twins are interested and will probably make a claim, but don't expect to make a deal. He says the Twins were eyeing Guardado in July but wouldn't meet the Rangers' price.
Guardado is currently closing for the Rangers, getting it done with a 3.21 ERA. A deeper look at his numbers indicates rougher waters ahead, but he's certainly a useful reliever. As far as I can tell, Guardado only has about $680K left on his contract this year. I'd imagine several teams will put in a claim, but I would've said the same for David Weathers.

The Rangers waived pitching. That is a story in itself.

Down here in Texas, we don’t say we’ve “waived” a pitcher; we say we’ve “freed” him.

im not sure
our last closer's era was 6.00+ and he was 22/24

I think this would be an interesting pickup if the Twins could get it done. Eddie has gotten shelled in a few outings this year and that has made his ERA fairly higher than it should be (including last night against Cleveland), but he could be a main cog in that bullpen that is already missing their best setup man.

"how is a closer with a 3.21 "getting it done"?????????????????????????????"

You guys really are idiots.
First, Eddie most likely will end up being a Type B FA and will get a draft pick in return. So he will NOT be waived and let go just like that.
Second, learn the rules before spewing crap out of your mouthes. If you actually do some homework, you'll find out that teams put practically THERE ENTIRE roster on waivers.
