Allways great work but when can we expect to see a Kenny Williams history?

Few things:
1.King Albert in the 13th round. Best/luckiest draft pick ever.
2. JD Drew trade was a big win. Mulder trade pretty much undid the Drew trade. Even though Barton has shown no signs of being a staple in MLB, that trade looks like a big win for the A's.
3. Did Mike Maroth stay in the Tigers system through 2007? Wow. I thought he was canned after that 21 loss 2003.

Did I mention Walt has a "special assistant" now (it was on MLBTR some time back). Hopefully Walt does all the FA signings, especially those of 1B/DH/SP/C positions.

No one can argue the wins and losses, but in Cincinnati he doesn't have the $$$$ he did in SL. Unless he goes out and spends 20 mil, there's no one out there that makes sense for the Reds in FA. Unless they're already looking completely past 2009. Basically, how is he going to find a Jim Edmonds again? He seems average in all categories but picking up cheap stars from teams dumping salary. Those days are gone. We'll see. I've got my arms folded and I'm watching.

I think if you look at the McGwire, Rolen, Renteria, D. Kile and Edmonds trades and compare to the few trades that ended poorly( Mulder being the obvious one. You have to agree that no one traded shiny turds for gold better than Walt. I mean Kent Bottenfield for Edmonds.....TJ Mathews for McGwire....2 PTBNL that were never heard from again for Larry Walker? That's genius I'm surprised many teams still deal with him.

If you remember the trades correctly, Edmonds was a malcontent in Anaheim and the management wanted him out for anything so they took Bottenfield and Adam Kennedy. Kennedy helped them win a WS so it wasn't all that bad. McGwire was traded because the A's wanted to cut down on payroll and had Giambi waiting in the wings. Rolen was shipped because he would not play for Philly and forced a trade which got the Phillies Polanco, Timlin and Bud Smith. Renteria went in the fire sale just like every other player on that Marlin team. The Cards got Renteria for Looper, Almanza and Ozuna. Walt has been in the right place at the right time for many moves. He has also gotten pretty lucky. MGwire gets hurt and the Orioles give Walt Will Clark for a play off run for Jose Leon and cash?
By the way, Pujols dropped to the 13th round because of questions about his age in 1999. And he was drafted 3 times. Declined the first draft, held out for more money the second time and then signed for a bigger bonus.
melonis rex :
The Cards did not trade for Drew. He was drafted by the Giants (94) and Phillies (97) but would not sign. The Cards drafted him (98) and he then signed with them and went on to play in 597 games in the next 6 years.

He meant the trade that sent JD Drew to Atlanta. It netted Ray King and Adam Wainwright. He also got good years out of king and then flipped him for Miles after he started sucking. A pretty good trade as well.
