Brewers Sign Trot Nixon, Chris Duffy

The Brewers announced they've signed two outfielders to minor league deals: Trot Nixon and Chris Duffy.

Nixon, 35 in April, hit .309/.434/.558 in 181 Triple A at-bats before a trade to the Mets.  He played eleven games for the Mets before hitting the DL for a strained groin and then hernia surgery.

Duffy, 29 in April, amassed only 109 minor league ABs this year as he was limited by September '07 shoulder surgery.

poor trot, its just not working out for him :(

good to see trot nixon is still alive and kickin

Dang...didn't know DuffMan was a free agent...

good to know the brewers are getting more and more worse, signing trash the pirates couldn't even put on the field, i wonder if duffy will disappear for a couple of months again and go boozing

the brewers should get rick ankiel. i would raither see camron get traded for someone who is good. Rick is a up and coming star. Power hitter and big arm with good fielding skills. plus i hate the yankees because they are just an all star team. I mean they picked up almost every good free agent. give other teams a chance. Dont give the yankees Camron

Trot Nixon I hope really helps the Brewers out. Cannot help but liking my old Sox boys.

trot nixon never met a DL he didn't like

Haha..... Duffy.

Brewers are a laughing stock

These are just minor league deals - if they pan out fine, if they don't, big deal. Melvin is known for this type of signing. Last year all people did was make fun of the Gabe Kapler signing who was managing and hadn't actually played in a full season and he turned out to be a steal for the deal he was signed at.

Art: please do explain - there is plenty of time before spring training for them to do something. They have a very good core of players to work with and only need 1 pitcher and 1 closer and there are plenty of viable options still available. Their farm system has been one of the best in the past few years and they finally have a good owner.

Neal: Ankiel is worse than Cameron and he isn't THAT young. Cameron's numbers are pretty similar he hits a little worse (but Cameron had the same number of HR's [25] fewer games) and Ankiel is embarrasing as an outfielder. Good fielding skills? Have you seen some of his lowlights? He has a great arm and that covers up partially for all of the mistakes he makes - but he is not close to Cameron defensively. In 2008 Ankiel had 3 errors and an .880 fielding pct in left field and 5 errors in center with a .977 fielding pct. In contrast Cameron had a .997 fielding pct and just one error. Cameron's range is also WAY better.

i feel bad for you guys..coming from a phillies fan. your club is going to be pathetic again for a long time...they tease you with a decent season then bury their heads in the sand like an ostrich..sorry brewers fans
