« Odds and Ends: Miles, Bako, Sheets | Main | Turnbow Agrees To One-Year Deal With Rangers »
Patrick Newman of NPB Tracker has translated a report from Sponichi, a Japanese news network, claiming that infielder Tadahito Iguchi has multiple offers from MLB teams.
Sponichi speculates that the Giants and Royals are nice fits, while Newman himself believes the White Sox might want Iguchi back. Of course, that's all conjecture. A few teams in Japan are legitimately vying for his services. The 34-year-old batted .232/.292/.306 last season with two dingers and 24 RBI in 310 at-bats. It seems most MLB teams could do better.

Let's not forget that MLBTR is from the Central Time Zone...it's still 2008 here.

Happy New Year Tim...Thanks for dropping this one on us Giants fans to start the year off.
Tad Iguchi just doesn't make sense for the Giants...Or really any club. Here's to one of the other 29 teams outbidding Sabean

I agree, his numbers merit that he should go back to Japan and no MLB team should pursue him, unless they envision him being a back up or filling a utility role.

Relax Iguchi was a good player for the White Sox. Personally I hope he does resign with us.

Oh god, keep him away. I love him for helping in '05, but we have a glut at 2B.

He filled in nicely for Chase Utley in '07. A good clubhouse guy, despite the language barrier, Phillies fans wanted to resign him as a 3B (a stretch). I'm not sure picking him up for Spring '09 wouldn't be bad for the Phillies with Utley having surgery. Neither Brad Harman or Eric Brutlett really seems the way to go.

Come on now Royals, your not that bad now. Maybe he could go to the Pirates :)

With Podsednik in hitting front of him in '05, he was fantastic (considering he saw nothing but fastballs). Plus he made some ninja-ass plays at 2B for us too. If he gets a setup like that again, he could be good for someone...just not my Sox.
