Adam LaRoche to Angels; let the buzz begin.

Bradley is 2+1 (vesting), I believe.

Tired of hearing about Teixeira Tony!!!
Move on, do your job, see what is next.

I think the Pirates are best suited trading LaRoche. Angels are a great fit, as one of Adenhart or Walden would really help the Pirates system.

maybe the warm weather in anaheim would help him, but all i know is laroche is absolutely useless for the first 1 to 2 months of the season.
and there is some serious bitterness coming out of boston over tex. i doubt there's this much ink spilled over it if he signs with anybody besides the yanks.

I know how much Tony Maz was pining over Teixeira, but he really needs to move on.
The only question he raises that's semi-relevant now is the last one, and the answer isn't probably yes, it's yes.

LaRoche's inability to hit in the 1st half of the season is a very interesting situation. For his career he's at .253/.324/.447 in the 1st half, compared to .297/.360/.548 in the 2nd half. I'm usually not a believer that results like these are that indicative of anything, but in LaRoche's case I think it might just take him that long to really get the timing locked in on that crazy, complicated swing of his. I still remember his 2006 2nd half where he posted a .290/.373/.655 line, and how pissed I was when the Braves traded him for Gonzalez right after. After all these years, you'd think I'd learn to trust the Braves' scouts a little more.

give it a rest tony maz.

Mazz is the only one in Boston who STILL cares about this Teixeira deal. An entire article filled with assumptions, guesses, and recycled news. It's January 6th and he's still beating this dead horse.

nixa-
I wonder if Andy is the same way.
He didn't get full time ABs in LA, and could his suckage in Pittsburgh have to do with the fact that he never found the timing on his swing?
Posted by: melonis rex | January 06, 2009 at 12:49 PM
If the Purates could land Adenhart or Walden for LaRoche, they HAVE to make that deal.
They have practically no high impact pitchers in their system, and really their only hope for next season is to have Snell, Gorzelanny and Duke bounce back.
Adding a guy like Adenhart to a system that basically has Morris, Lincoln, Moskos and that's it.

I understand why Mazz is still covering Teixeira; I mean its not like the reigning AL Champion Rays just signed Pat Burrell or anything.
Mazz is probably the biggest drama queen in baseball writing history. The guy has no soul and would do anything to sell a paper.
Maybe Mazz just needs another view on the situation.....
the $1-2 extra per year the Sox didn't pony up will pay the salaries of Jacoby Ellsbury, Jed Lowries, Justin Masterson and Jon Lester next year.
Mazzarotti doesn't seem to think $1-2 million is a big deal but I guess it depends on what you are getting for it.
Not to mention that extra money each year will help the Sox sign top draft picks; something a growing number of teams have problems.

"He believes teams are exaggerating the recession effect"
of course they are, why give a guy 15m is you can get him for 10m-12m?

The boat sailed on LaWhiff getting an extension. This will be his last in Pittsburgh and Pirate fans are ok with that.

Tony Massarotti, it wasn't about the money. Teixeira wasn't coming to Boston. Please STFU and GBTW.
Posted by: Little Bear | January 06, 2009 at 01:19 PM
melonis rex,
I've never taken a look at Andy's swing so I can't say with any real certainty. Clearly its not as complex as Adam's, because you can't pull of a swing like that from the right side of the plate. Still, I found one clip and he does seem to have a longer timing mechanism than most, so your theory could be an explanation of his struggles.

The Pirates shouldn't have any issues replacing Adam LaRoche. They have the other LaRoche at third, Steve Pearce on the roster (who's still pretty young), as well as Alvarez and Neil Walker in the minors.
They have far bigger issues in the middle infield and their pitching.

Massaroti needs to drop the Tex case. I mean really, just get over it.

I love the nit wit who "really likes" Winn for Nady. I guess he does as a SF fan!
Nady .305 25 97 (30 - 3.3 mil)
Winn .306 10 64 (34 - 8.8 mil)
Considering they both play RF, how the SHTI does this make remote sense?? Yes, Winn has played a little CF...but that is NOT his natural position.
